A great company and a great experience.
Visiting from France, 2 families, 5 kids. The instructions for shuttle bus to Rossaveel are next to non existant let alone clear. Have to call to have them pick you up. Missed the ferry and wouldn’t budge in transferring the tickets to another time/day. 300€ out the window. So upset.
We felt the ferry was expensive for what it was, but then again we appreciate having this convenient option available. Boats are not fancy but they are comfortable, well-kept, and reliable. The timing was good to get to Inis Mor and have the whole day to walk the island from end to end, then travel back. Parking at Rossaveel was easy to find and well organized. Would use this option again and recommend to anyone visiting.
Ferry was fine no issues however the staffing and organisation of getting passengers on and off the ferry was a shambles They have two queues, none of which are signposted. It seems the 2nd queue is for those on a later ferry wanting to get on early. Both ways it was a mess getting on and off the boat. It took so long to get off and getting on the boat was a free for all with everyone swarming the staff to get on the boat. No organisation, found it very frustrating
Perfect way to spend the last day in Ireland. The ferry was early. The directions to ferry port were spot on.
Easy to board, great comfy seats.
The boat was great from Rossaveel, it did leave a little early though so don't wait until last minute. The 1030 boat left at 1015. The island was wonderful, with some nice shops and restaurants and a fantastic traditional irish pub with ham and cheese toasties and great guiness.
I have visited Inis Mór many times now. It is the largest of the three Aran Islands in Galway Bay, western Ireland. Guided by Oliver Faherty, whose family have lived on the island for generations, I have wandered off the beaten track having wonderful experiences in this ancient landscape. Oliver is a man of the land, a builder of stone walls, a farmer of the soil. He knows where the thin places are, the sacred wells and holy places, the pagan sites and hidden lore. Fluent in Irish and English, he interprets this ancient place and makes it come alive. We have tramped boreens to iron age forts; hiked the limestone hills to the Wormhole; driven little lanes to old oratories and temples; and taken in the views over thousands of miles of stone walls and thousands of years of history. If you make the crossing to Inis Mór, take a raincoat and a flask. Wear your walking boots and ring Oliver. He will show you HIS island.
The boat ride can be rough. Bring Dramamine with you. There are no pharmacies on the island! Once on the island though, it’s beautiful.
Absolutely perfect from start to finish. The lads went above & beyond for us. They took my two daughters into the controls room & let them sit in the captains seats! Aodan in particular was spectacular,he then took us down to the bar and got us drinks, treats or what ever we needed. Spacious, clean boat. The crossing was very smooth. Would highly recommend aranisland ferries & will certainly be availing of them on our next visit!
