Het Final Journey-standbeeld in Forster Street is ter nagedachtenis aan alle vrouwen die van 1922 tot 1996 in Magdalen Laundries hebben geleden. Luister naar het verhaal van Lily McAllister en haar ervaring in de wasserij.
Bezoek de site van Taaffe's wolwinkel. Lees meer over Úna Taaffe, een socialite en ondernemer uit Galway. Ze nam de wolwinkel van haar familie over en maakte er een succesvol bedrijf van.
Bezoek de site van de Galway Electric Light Company en kom meer te weten over Alice Perry, de eerste vrouw in Ierland en Groot-Brittannië die in 1906 afstudeerde met een ingenieursdiploma.
Nora Barnacle wordt beschouwd als het originele Galway-meisje. Ze was de vrouw en muze van James Joyce. Hoor over haar leven in Galway en hoe ze een van de bekende schrijvers van Ierland, James Joyce, ontmoette. Het museum is geopend tijdens de zomermaanden en een donatie van € 5 wordt geadviseerd.
Het Galway Arts Centre was ooit het herenhuis van de familie Persse. Het beroemdste lid van de Persse-familie was Isabella Augusta Persse, beter bekend als Lady Augusta Gregory. This tour is unlike your normal history tour as it focuses on the women of Galway and the lives they led and the challenges they faced. It is very refreshing to look at a side of history that rarely gets covered, instead of battles, castles and Kings. I would very much recommend Marteen as a wonderful guide. She is warm and welcoming and is a font of information on these topics. I will definitely be checking out more of her tours.

We had an incredible tour on the HerGalway Walking tour! Marteen is so kind and knowledgeable about Irish history, the history of Galway and women's history. We were so impressed with the tour and we saw a side of Galway we hadn't experienced before and learned so much on the tour. I was on the tour with my mom and two aunts and it was really special to have the opportunity to learn about Galway through women's history. Highly recommend any of Marteen's tours if you're in Galway and want to experience a one-of-a-kind tour!

There are many hidden gems within the City of Galway that you you may miss ...... I would highly recommend Marteen as a guide to experience them. Marteen brought these gems to life with her passion and knowledge of the history and culture of the city. I thoroughly enjoyed the Galway Medieval Walking Tour as well as the Galway Dark Tour - both the same day ...... an easy pace and very informative. An excellent tour - highly recommend it!
