Reis comfortabel in een voertuig met airconditioning langs de spectaculaire kustlijn van False Bay en geniet van een fotostop bij de kleurrijke St James Beach-hutten. Kort na het ophalen rijden we langs de M5 en verbinden we de M4 via de stranden van Muizenberg, St. James en Fish Hoek gelegen langs de schilderachtige kustlijn van False Bay op weg naar Boulder's Beach Penguins Colony.
Als we het strand van Muizenberg passeren, zien we in de verte een aantal aantrekkelijke kleurrijke strandhutten. De strandhutten lijken op de "zwemmachines" van de jaren 1800 - een karachtige structuur die naar de waterkant werd gereden, waardoor de dames in hun kin-tot-enkel badkleding konden veranderen en stoeien in het ondiepe water. De strandhutten worden vervolgens gebruikt als kleedkamers voor zonaanbidders en enthousiaste surfers.
Net als hun tegenhangers worden de strandhutten die hier op St. James Beach te zien zijn ook door zonnebaders gebruikt als kleedkamers. Je gids stopt hier een paar minuten om wat leuke foto's te maken met deze kleurrijke strandhutten voordat we doorgaan naar de kolonie Boulder's Beach Penguins.
We rijden langs Kalk Bay Harbor, dat meer op een vissersdorp lijkt, met vissersboten die aanmeren en vishandelaren die hun vangsten prijzen. Verse vis is hier dagelijks beschikbaar voor aankoop. De bezienswaardigheden, geuren en verfrissende zeelucht zijn niets minder dan spectaculair.
We passeren het strand van Fish Hoek. Het is mogelijk om de warme wateren van de Indische Oceaan te voelen die in het gebied van de Valsbaai stromen, waardoor Fish Hoek een favoriet strand is om te zwemmen en te zonnebaden op lange stukken warm wit zand.
We stoppen bij Boulder's Beach om de kolonie Afrikaanse pinguïns te bezoeken. Boulder's Beach is een van de beste stranden in Kaapstad, met name om te zwemmen en zonnebaden. Het is mogelijk om nauwe ontmoetingen te hebben met de Afrikaanse pinguïns tijdens het zwemmen en zonnebaden op Boulder's Beach, maar dit is niet gegarandeerd. Daarom zullen we een wandeling langs de promenade maken naar de officiële pinguïns kolonie locatie om de pinguïns in hun natuurlijke habitat te zien. Boulder's pinguïnskolonie herbergt ongeveer 3000 Afrikaanse pinguïns die hun dagen doorbrengen met stoeien in de False Bay-wateren, koesteren in de zon en paraderen op de granieten keien.
Na onze ontmoeting met de charmante Afrikaanse pinguïns gaan we verder naar wat zeker het hoogtepunt van de dag is: de Kaap de Goede Hoop en het natuurreservaat Cape Point. Er wordt aangenomen dat een bezoek aan Kaapstad niet compleet is zonder een foto achter het naambord van Kaap de Goede Hoop. We zullen het natuurreservaat verkennen, terwijl de gids historische verhalen deelt over de bakens van Bartholomew Dias en Vasco Da Gama. De Kaap de Goede Hoop is de thuisbasis van vele fauna en flora zoals fynbos (fijne struik), meer dan 250 soorten vogels, waaronder struisvogels, bok, bavianen en de Kaapse bergzebra. We adviseren onze gasten om waakzaam te zijn en niet te dichtbij de wilde dieren in het reservaat te komen, omdat ze gewelddadig kunnen worden. Nauw contact of voeren is niet toegestaan.
Na het verkennen van Kaap de Goede Hoop rijden we naar Kaappunt waar bezoekers vrij een korte wandeling naar de vuurtoren van Kaappunt kunnen maken of de Flying Dutchman-kabelbaan kunnen nemen (extra kosten voor eigen rekening). Velen geloven dat het Kaappunt het ontmoetingspunt is van de twee oceanen. Kaappunt is echter het officiële ontmoetingspunt van de twee oceaanstromingen: de koude Benguela- en de warme Agulhas-zeestromingen. De vuurtoren van Cape Point is de krachtigste aan de Zuid-Afrikaanse kust.
Als deze operationeel is, zullen we een rit maken via Chapmans Peak Drive, een van de mooiste routes ter wereld. We stoppen een paar minuten bij het uitkijkpunt om wat foto's te maken.
Bij onze aankomst in Kaapstad worden bezoekers afgezet op hetzelfde ophaalpunt waar ze 's ochtends werden opgehaald.

It was an amazing experience. Talent was very knowledgeable and he planned the trip well. The group was amazing and everyone was on time at every stop. Thoroughly enjoyed this half-day trip. Tour guide, Mr Mena, was super friendly. Prompt and clear communication leading up to the tour date via WhatsApp. Pick-up and drop-off right at our hotel door. The tour itself is the perfect pace. I know some reviewers say they felt rushed, but let's be clear: this is a half-day tour. Of course time will be a constraint. Further, if you're like me, you don't need more than 5-10 min at an overlook to snap some photos and walk around before moving onto the next sight. You get a solid 45 minutes at the two main stops of the tour (penguin colony at Boulders Beach and lighthouse at Cape Point). And the drive itself is beautiful. So again, this is the perfect pace that will have you back by 2pm to refresh and relax before your evening plans. Highly recommend this tour and Mr Mena as guide. 5/5

It was amazing! While half day seems rushed at first, honestly it was perfect! Nathan was wonderful. The group was larger than expected but who cares. We included admission with our tickets which made it hassle free. I would defo suggest this tour for anyone coming to Cape Town.

We had a wonderful trip to see the penguin colony near Boulder Beach and then an excursion to the Cape of Hood Hope. Our guide Nathan from Beyond Africa Safaris was funny, informative and an excellent driver. He was extremely helpful and responded quickly to all our requests. We had a great lunch, and saw so many animals plus extraordinary views of Hout Bay on our ride back to Cape Town. The trip exceeded my expectations by a mile!
