Eerste straat van Amerika
Het is de enige bekende woonplaats van een lid van de familie van Christoffel Columbus, [1] zijn eerstgeboren zoon Diego Columbus.
Het gebouw staat op het terrein van het voormalige presidentiële herenhuis (Mansión Presidencial), gebouwd tijdens de militaire bezetting van 1916-1924 door de Verenigde Staten.
Theater
Oorspronkelijk gebouwd in 1508 is het nu de thuisbasis van een zeer informatief museum dat de rijke geschiedenis van dit eiland en het land Dominicaanse Republiek uitlegt. Het herbergt ook een verzameling wapens die ooit eigendom waren van de dictator Rafael Leónidas Trujillo Molina.
Wanneer je de kathedraal binnengaat, voel je een kalmte over je komen. Voor het eerst het interieur zien is een echte belevenis. Het is zo stil, ontspannend en overweldigend en toch heeft het zo'n eerbiedig gevoel. Zorg ervoor dat je omhoog kijkt naar de hemel en let op het gewelfde plafond dat eruitziet als palmtakken die het oorspronkelijke dak van de eerste kerk voorstellen. Er zijn veel verschillende kapellen in de grote structuur. Het glas in lood is prachtig.

Our tour guide, Kevin, and our driver, Perez, were fantastic! Kevin was knowledgeable, organized, and always willing to answer questions and make sure everyone had a great experience. Perez was an excellent driver, and we felt safe and comfortable throughout the trip. We really enjoyed exploring Santo Domingo, learning about its rich history, and experiencing the local culture. I highly recommend this tour, especially with Kevin and Perez. They made it a memorable experience!
Kevin, our guide, shared knowledge almost the entire way from Punta Cana to Santo Domingo. While we were in Santo Domingo, he patiently provided the historical and insightful information regarding all of the sites. He was pleasant and joked with us on many occasions. This is our second visit to Punta Cana with at least 15 excursions under our belt, and he’s the top excursion guide that we’ve been around. Mr. Perez, the bus driver was a steady and dependable driver. They make a great team.
Kevin was very knowledgeable and this is the 4th time I have done this tour and learned new things. Perez was a great driver.

I had a great experience on this Santo Domingo tour! Our tour guide, Darius, was fun, energetic, and incredibly knowledgeable. He spoke three languages fluently and did an excellent job explaining the history of the Dominican Republic in a way that was engaging and easy to follow. You could tell he genuinely enjoys what he does. A special thanks as well to our driver, who drove safely and professionally throughout the entire journey, making the long trip comfortable and stress-free. The buffet lunch was also very good with a nice selection of local dishes. I really enjoyed it and it was a great addition to the tour. Overall, this tour is well organized and offers a perfect mix of history, culture, and great food. I highly recommend it to anyone visiting Punta Cana who wants to explore the rich heritage of the Dominican Republic. Definitely worth it!
This trip was great! From the pick up at our hotel til the end. Our tour guide Darius and other staff were great. I appreciate the historical information Darius provided along the trip and his added personal touch. This tour is a MUST if you want to learn more outside of Punta Cana. Walking through SD and seeing the sights and history behind it is a must if you’re into the historical part of a city.

The trip was amazing. The guide Darius was nice, humorous and friendly. He had good knowledge of history, explained everything in detail and was interesting to listen. The lunch food could have been better but still good. Overall satisfied.
I think Darius was exceptional today not just knowledgeable but also made the whole trip very interesting. The way he passes on his knowledge with passion about DR and its history is brilliant. Thank you Darius and also the driver Rene was also superb.
