De Verboden Stad, naar verluidt bestaande uit meer dan 9.000 kamers, is het grootste en best bewaarde koninklijk paleis ter wereld. Het diende als de zetel van de macht in de Ming- en Qing-dynastieën (1368 - 1911), en werd bewoond door 24 keizers in zijn geschiedenis van meer dan 600 jaar.

- Het ticket wordt geboekt onder uw paspoort, alle bezoekers moeten een paspoort tonen voor directe toegang bij de Meridian Gate.
- Zorg ervoor dat uw naam en paspoortnummer correct zijn opgegeven.
- Bezoekers uit Hongkong, Macau of Taiwan moeten vooraf tickets boeken met behulp van hun reisvergunning voor het vasteland en ervoor zorgen dat het juiste ID-type is geselecteerd.
- Chinese bezoekers die ID-kaarten gebruiken, kunnen zelfstandig tickets boeken via het officiële miniprogramma.
- Tickets zijn alleen geldig voor de geselecteerde datum. Toegang is strikt beperkt tot het gereserveerde tijdslot.
- Dit is een pre-booking service. Tickets worden 7 dagen van tevoren vrijgegeven en bevestigingen worden verzonden bij uitgifte.
- Ingang: De Meridian Gate; Twee uitgangen: Shenwu Gate (bij Jingshan Park)/ Donghua Gate (bij Wangfujing Street).
- Alle 3 de opties zijn "Ticket Only" service, regel uw individuele bezoeken.

Booking the ticket to the Tiananmen Square / Forbidden City was very easy. The access to the site is crowded but we were given the right directions to the entrance so that we could make the most of our time.

Our visit to Tiananmen Square went really smoothly. TravelChinaGuide provided us with a separate confirmation document that was clear and very helpful. I should mention that booking tickets independently via WeChat is actually quite difficult, so paying a small fee to secure the reservation was well worth it.

An amazing place to visit. Do bring your passport for entry and note bags are searched and scanned so queues can be long.

Just massively impressive! You need an extra day if you really want to see each and every corner. Tip from the guide: if possible don’t bring a bag, handbag or backpack and put your stuff in your pockets instead. It saves a lot of queuing time at the security check.

The admission fee is cheap, and the whole experience makes me feel so proud about China's agriculture and history. Although it was a long walk, the lanes are easy to go and its literally the best place for photo-taking in Beijing. It's the only place that I can learn about China's history. Best recommended for solos, couples and friends.
