Het Dalberto Pombo Environmental Interpretation Centre (CIADP) was het resultaat van de reconstructie van een gebouw aan het begin van het historische gedeelte van Vila do Porto. Dit centrum herbergt het landgoed van de natuuronderzoeker Dalberto Pombo, een pionier in de studie van de geologische en biologische diversiteit van het eiland en het hoofddoel is het bevorderen van de kennis van het natuurlijk erfgoed, op een dynamische en interactieve manier, met een educatief en wetenschappelijk karakter.
Barreiro da Faneca is een uitgestrekt gebied van droog en kleiachtig terrein, voornamelijk behorend tot de geologische eenheid genaamd "Formation of Feteiras", en vormt een semi-woestijnlandschap met een geel-rode kleur, uniek in de Azoren.
In zijn stroomafwaartse deel presenteert het bed van Ribeira do Maloás, in plaats van Malbusca, een waterval in een uitgebreide uitloper van basaltzuilen met 15 tot 20 m hoog en een uitbreiding van ongeveer 220 m. Deze prismatische of zuilvormige disjunctie wordt geassocieerd met een subaero basaltische lavastroom van het Pico Alto vulkanisch complex, waarvan de prisma's van opvallende afmetingen aan de bovenkant zijn afgekapt en een hexagonale veelhoekige vloer van het type "Calçada de Gigantes" onthullen, een vulkanische structuur wereldberoemd uit Ierland.
Het is een van de grootste watervallen in Portugal, honderd meter hoog. Aan de voet van de waterval is er een ondiep meer en, aan een van de oevers, een plek waar u kunt picknicken.

We stayed at the bungalow in the campingsite for some days and all it was wonderful!!! Very clean and beautiful view at the sea!!! Marco so nice and ready to help with anything !!!

My father was born on Santa Maria, but he moved away over 50 years ago as a young boy so he didn’t remember his way around the island. Marco agreed to pick us up from the airport when we landed at 0700 and start the tour 2 hours early. The island is beautiful, and Marco’s love and passion for his home are evident throughout. A delicious lunch at a local restaurant was included in the price. Overall, it was terrific tour and the highlight of my families trip to Portugal. If it was possible to give the tour a higher rating than 5 stars I would. Thank you so much for an excellent day. I hope to come back in the future and book again with Paraiso Radical.
We do guided tours everywhere we go and most are exceptionally good but this was extra special exceptionally good. Marco made everything perfect. He is rightfully very proud of his island with all the history and details anyone could ever want. Yes, that is the job of a tour guide but you will find him to be exceptional. At the end of our Friday tour he came back to our hotel and said there was something he forgot to show us and came back in the morning to give us the free extended tour. If you want to rent a kayak, scooter or bicycle be is also your guy.

I had an amazing whirlwind day seeing every single inch of the island of Santa Maria! The tour culminated at Pico Alto rhe highest point of the island where i got an amazing perspective of the whole iland with stunning views! My guide was very personable, flexible and accommodating. I was delayed in arriving and he was gracious enough to change the date and even dropped me off at the airport because we didn't have time to ho back to the hotel. All in all a wonderful experience!
This was an amazing experience with a wonderful and fun guide. Marco was a local and well known on the island. He knew almost anything we could ask and was always willing to go wherever we wanted. Santa Maria is such a beautiful Island, literally ever turn was a post card. My husband and myself were so happy to be shown around with such hospitality despite knowing no Portuguese, we look forward to returning. PS he also dealt well with our 16 year old nephew.

It was a surprisingly positive experience!!!!5*!!! A kayak tour on the coast of São Lourenço, which is beautiful, we entered several beautiful caves and we were bathing on a beach, which only has access by the sea, with the right to a snack and everything!!!! Very friendly people!!! I highly recommend!!!
