Uw gids met vergunning ontmoet u in de elegante Williamsburg Inn, 136 E. Francis Street, en begeleidt u terug in de tijd naar de 18e eeuw. Als we Duke of Gloucester Street op lopen komen we in een andere, langzamere stad. We zullen leren waarom de kolonisten besloten zich af te splitsen van Groot-Brittannië. We zullen de bezienswaardigheden, geluiden en geuren van de jaren 1700 ervaren, toen Virginia de grootste en rijkste kolonie in Brits-Amerika was.
We zullen ons onderdompelen in de 18e eeuw terwijl we Duke of Gloucester Street beklimmen, "de meest historische straat in Amerika." We zullen stoppen om het Capitol Building te bekijken, waar onze Founding Fathers debatteerden over Britse belastingen en uiteindelijk onafhankelijkheid voorstelden. We zien gekostumeerde tolken en observeren de drukke winkels, werkende beroepen en tavernes voor hongerige reizigers waar onze Fouding Fathers debatteerden over onafhankelijkheid. We stoppen bij het gerechtsgebouw waar we de straffen delen die worden uitgedeeld aan veroordeelde criminelen en misschien een foto maken met je voeten in de "stocks".
Op weg naar het prachtige Governor's Palace komen we langs paardenkoetsen, misschien een patriot tegen en lopen we Palace Green op om het herenhuis te zien dat de rijkdom en macht van het Britse rijk liet zien.
We sluiten onze tour af bij de historische Bruton Parish Church, vlakbij Merchants Square. Dit geeft u de mogelijkheid om door het historische gebied te blijven toeren of om het Merchantsplein met zijn 40 winkels en restaurants te bezoeken. Winkels zijn Lululemon, Talbot's en Scotland House, en award winnende restaurants, van lekker eten tot casual plekken. Misschien wilt u verder toeren of een hapje eten, of souvenirs winkelen. This was a great tour with our guide, Cyndi! She was informative and such a wealth of knowledge of all things Colonial Williamsburg and beyond. She paid close attention to our comfortability today, as it was hot and muggy, so she made sure to stop in shady parts to talk history with us (my husband and I). She gave us plenty of recommendations for food prior to our tour and recommendations for books to read after our tour, and the afternoon was just so pleasant. Cyndi Young was awesome!! Extremely informative. The tour does require walking, however Cyndi was very accommodating when we needed to sit and rest. Most personal experience… we got to meet George Washington and discussed his upcoming trip to the southern states.

From the first few minutes, introducing us to the main characters of Williamsburg, to the very end of our walk, Cyndi shared the rich and important History of this area. She helped tie up some loose ends for us as we asked questions, even how the Queen City, in NC, ties into this story. Cyndi definitely knows and enjoys this Beautiful area. Cyndi was exactly the right person for our tour. She filled in the bits on US history we were missing - not having grown up here - and gave us great jumping off points to go on with. I met up with Cyndi Young who was gracious, passionate, extremely knowledgeable and knew where the sheep were hiding that day! She paced things so well, kept the story alive.
