Stap op het op één na langste stadsstrand ter wereld, waar ritmische golven de levendige ziel van de stad ontmoeten. Dit is niet zomaar een "tour" - het is een poort naar de politieke en spirituele hartslag van Tamil Nadu. Als door het Ministerie van Toerisme goedgekeurde organisatie en trots IATO-lid brengen onze Culturele Evangelisten het erfgoed van deze legendarische kustlijn tot leven. We reizen van het oude, ingewikkelde houtsnijwerk van de Parthasarathy Tempel naar de serene, ronde zalen van Vivekananda House, waar ooit de grote monnik verbleef. Terwijl we langs iconische beelden lopen die de geschiedenis van Chennai in kaart brengen, zie je hoe dit strand dient als het openlucht stadhuis van de stad. Het is een unieke ruimte waar heilige tradities en moderne publieke stemmen naast elkaar bestaan. De strandwandeling langs de jachthaven begint bij de vuurtoren in Marina, een unieke met een lift om de 10 verdiepingen omhoog te gaan. Het biedt een spectaculair uitzicht op 's werelds op een na langste strand. Vervolgens bezoeken we tijdens deze wandeltocht in Chennai het schilderachtige museum in de vuurtoren met een fascinerende verzameling vuurtorens en andere maritieme uitrusting van over de hele wereld. (Vuurtoren is op maandag gesloten. Op maandag slaan we dit over).
We lopen langs vele standbeelden van prominente burgers van Chennai uit het verleden en het heden en praten over hoe ze de geschiedenis en het ethos van de stad hebben gevormd.
Het beste deel van deze wandeltocht in Chennai volgt! Loop over het strand, geniet van de feestelijke sfeer en luister naar het verhaal van Chennai via de standbeelden. Er zijn hier veel standbeelden die elk een deel van het verhaal van Chennai vertellen. Leer meer over personages uit oude Tamil-epen, vrijheidsstrijders en dichters die een revolutie teweeg hebben gebracht in het denken van de samenleving. De strandwandeling langs de jachthaven eindigt nadat we een begeleide wandeling hebben gemaakt in de Parthasarathy-tempel en zijn omgeving. Onze culturele evangelist zal de kleurrijke rituelen die in de tempel worden uitgevoerd interpreteren en de rol van God in de moderne Chennai-samenleving uitleggen. Deze wandeltocht in Chennai laat je begrijpen hoe God vandaag de dag net zo relevant blijft in het dagelijks leven in deze regio als in het verleden!
We zullen leren hoe Swamy VIvekananda de westerse wereld bewust maakte van de Indiase filosofie. Hij reisde veel en hield de beroemde toespraak op het World Parliament of Religions in 1893.

Highly recommend this tour! Hareesh was knowledgeable and hospitable. It’s titled Marina Beach walk but it is much more. The temple is astounding. The Vivekananda cultural center is interesting. And the Marina Beach is fabulous. Hareesh did an excellent job in navigating the tour.
We had a great time on the walking tour with Nivi! She made us feel very welcome and was very knowledgeable about all the sights we visited. She did an excellent job explaining the key points.

An absolute must-do tour for any tourist to Chennai. My guide was Hareesh, who was very knowledgeable, friendly and engaging. The vistas from the top of the Madras Lighthouse, over the beach, sea and city are not to be missed. The beach walk also took us by the beautiful buildings of the Madras University campus. I cannot imagine coming to Chennai and not taking this tour! My tour included (I think substituted) a visit to St. Thomas Cathedral Basilica, which was truly fascinating. TIP: Bring your water bottle and a hat.

We just got back from a private tour of the Marina area. Our guide Hareesh was extremely knowledgeable and we learnt so much. The visit to the Parthasrthy Temple was the highlight of a very interesting morning. I would highly recommend this business, they will taylor your experience to suit you and you will get a good understanding of the culture and local life of Chennai.

I met with my guide at their Ramakrishna Math center for a very interesting tour. Nivethitha is knowledgeable and set an agenda for the tour that was best for me and the day. We walked along Marin beach, tried some local food, and saw the lights and activities of the local scene. We ended with a tour of the monument for the Chief Minister. Nivethitha ensured I got a cab back to my hotel. The tour was perfect.

This tour was really fun! Nivi did a great job communicating with us the whole process. She has a valuable amount of information on the area, fort, temples ect. She went out of her way to make recommendations for us on a few things post tour. Highly recommend Nivi and this tour of Chennai.
We have just spent a fabulous morning with Nivi and Ganesh who have guided us around the Marina Beach area. They are very engaging and informative. Great fun to be with. We were given just the right amount of information so we didn't get that awful brain overload. It is a very interesting area. The temple was so colourful and full of life. The beach is lovely and the museum was very interesting. Nivi kept me informed by WhatsApp when she would be arriving at our to collect us which is always reassuring. We were also dropped off at our hotel which was very kind of them. We were treated to drinks at a local cafe which we were not expecting....so thank you for that. I also enjoyed being driven through the city. I felt that I got to see some of the day to day life of the city. I would recommend this trip. Even though we were only in Chennai for 24hours I felt this trip gave us a really good overview of the city.
What a fabulous trip. Nivi and Ganesh our guides were very engaging informative and good fun. They gave us just the right amount of information without giving us brain overload. We were picked up and dropped off at our hotel which was good. We were also treated to drinks at a local cafe. Marina Beach area is very interesting. There are temples, museums and a very nice beach. We were driven everywhere. It was so hot, even in the early morning, that I wouldn't have been able to do a lot of walking. I would thoroughly recommend this trip.
At each site I learned about local history. At the temple I also learned about Hinduism and was able to experience temple activities; Vivekananda House informed me of Swami Viveknandas life and impact on India and the world; and the Lighthouse view was just beautiful. I highly recommend this tour.
