Ervaar betoverende rituelen in de 7e eeuwse tempels van Kapaleeswar. Leer de wetenschap achter de rituelen en de rol van tempel in de moderne Indiase samenleving. We bezoeken de San Thome Basiliek om de relikwieën te zien van St Thomas, die hier 2000 jaar geleden kwam. Ramakrishna Math, een kloosterorganisatie, en Fort Saint George bieden een levendige geschiedenis van hoe de Oost-Indische Compagnie als handelaren kwam en de heersers van India werd. Saibaba tempel, Vivenakanada House en Marina strand dragen bij aan de onvergetelijke ervaring.

We gaan richting Mylapore, een oude woonwijk in Chennai, waarvan de geschiedenis teruggaat tot de Romeinse tijd toen het peper en fijne stoffen ruilde met Rome voor Goud! We bezoeken de prachtige Kapaleeshwar-tempel. Gebouwd in de 7e eeuw is deze tempel gewijd aan Lord Shiva. Gebouwd in Dravidische stijl architectuur heeft het een torenhoge "Gopuram". Gasten kunnen een betoverende ervaring verwachten van rituelen en rust in de tempel. Onze culturele evangelist zal de gebeurtenissen in de tempel demystificeren!
We bezoeken een unieke monastieke organisatie genaamd Ramakrishna Math, opgedragen aan Sri Ramakrishna, de heilige uit de 19e eeuw. Gasten zullen de universele tempel, het heiligdom, een prachtige Mantapam, een multimediamuseum en een betoverende bibliotheek te zien krijgen.
Dit is een tempel gewijd aan Sai Baba, de grote mysticus die hindoes en moslims verenigde en predikte over universele liefde en broederschap. De tempel is gebouwd met wit marmer en heeft een lamp die meer dan 100 jaar is aangestoken
We bezoeken de beroemde San Thome-basiliek, de belangrijkste kerk van het rooms-katholieke aartsbisdom Madras en Mylapore. We kunnen overblijfselen van St. Thomas hier zien. Het is een van de slechts drie kerken in de wereld die is gebouwd op het graf van een apostel. De andere twee zijn de Sint-Pietersbasiliek in het Vaticaan en de Kathedraal van Santiago de Compostela in Spanje.
Fort St George is het eerste Engelse fort gebouwd in 1644 door de East India Company. We bezoeken de St Mary's Church, de oudste Anglicaanse kerk van India. Onze culturele evangelist neemt je mee naar een schilderachtig museum dat rijk is aan overblijfselen uit de koloniale tijd en vertelt het verhaal van hoe het Oost-Indische bedrijf veranderde van een handelsbedrijf in de heerser van India!
We zullen het gedenkteken voor Swami Vivekananda verkennen, die een groot filosoof was. Zijn toespraken in het World's Parliament of Religions, gehouden in september 1893, maakten hem beroemd als redenaar van goddelijk recht en als boodschapper van Indiase wijsheid aan de westerse wereld. Op maandag is het gesloten.
Loop over het Marina-strand, geniet van het feest en leer de erfenis van de stad kennen via de standbeelden. Ontdek waarom een stierengevecht dicht bij het hart van Chennaites ligt bij het gedenkteken van Jalikattu. Beklim een oude vuurtoren voor een ongelooflijk perspectief op Chennai! Let op: de vuurtoren is op maandag gesloten.

This tour was perfect. Well structured, informative and interesting. My guide - Jainath was well informed and brought in lots of interesting trivia. We toured two temples, a museum and marina beach for a half day tour. Great value for money.
Kannan was very knowledgeable about Chennai! I really enjoyed the visit to The Tomb of St. Thomas on the tour!
If you have the time for tour in the great city of Chennai this is the one for you. The tour was incredibly well-organized, covering the history of Chennai and how it came to be. The tour highlights cultural significance of their monuments and good viewpoint of local life. My guide Kannan was the definition of brilliance as he passion for the city was almost profound as his knowledge about the city. He shared fascinating stories behind each landmark,whilst making the experience feel personal and engaging. I truly believe that from various temples, significant landmarks and scenic Marina Beach, every stop provided uniqueness and wasn't handed the same way. This was an informative and interesting tour that covered the highlights of Chennai. Our guide Jainath was very knowledgeable and happy to share his insights with us. There is a lot of ground covered and it’s a great starting point to explore the so many historical and cultural sights. Well worth doing.

I don't usually do guided tours but Ganesh was a lovely guide! It was a very comfortable way of seeing the top sites of the city with some glimpses of what everyday life looks like in Chennai. There are a lot of different cultural elements to the tour, from religion, to fisherman's neighbourhoods and some good local food and snacks. Definitely glad I had the chance of squeezing all of this in my 24 hours in Chennai.
Really friendly and interesting time spent with Hareesh . He brought all the sights to life with stories and cultural insights and a natural enthusiasm. He was responsive in including our interests during the day. Would highly recommend this tour.
We were picked up from our hotel at the appointed time. Our guide , Kannnan , gave us a thorough introduction to the city of Chennai. It was a wonderful private tour covering the major temples , churches and museums and other sites. Kannan was a great guide- he took care in explaining the history of the temples and ensured we were comfortable at all times. We never felt hurried. We even had time for a leisurely lunch. Would definitely recommend!
Our day tour with Kannan and Ardil was excellent. The temples were beautiful and Kannan ensured we felt welcome and also taught us how to respectfully enjoy this cultural experience. Lunch was a culinary journey and we very much enjoyed Kannan’s company throughout. Ardil is a five star driver. I highly recommend 5 senses.
