Stap in de ritmische hartslag van Mylapore, waar de lucht dik is met jasmijn en versgebrande koffie. Dit is geen "tour" - het is een poort naar een cultuur die al twee millennia floreert. Als door het Ministerie van Toerisme goedgekeurde organisatie en trots IATO-lid bieden wij inzicht tot ver buiten de oppervlakte. We beginnen bij de Kapaleeshwarar Tempel, een Dravidisch meesterwerk. Onze Culturele Evangelisten demystificeren oude rituelen voordat we vrede vinden in de Ramakrishna Bastaard, een heiligdom van universele harmonie. De tocht neemt een serene wending bij de San Thome Basiliek en treedt in de voetsporen van een apostel bij het heiligdom van St. Thomas. Tussen de verhalen door, ervaar het theater van Iconic Filter Coffee, geschonken met de precisie van Zuid-Indiase gastvrijheid. De Chennai-wandeling vindt plaats in Mylapore, een oude site met geschreven gegevens die dateren uit de 1e eeuw na Christus. Het is een land van vele goden! We beginnen de wandeltocht in Chennai bij de Kapaaleswar-tempel, de beroemdste tempel in Mylapore. De tempel is het epicentrum van Mylapore en onze gids zal alle fantastische rituelen die in de tempel plaatsvinden demystificeren!
Vervolgens bezoeken we tijdens onze Chennai-wandeling het klooster en de universele tempel van Ramakrishna, een van India's grootste filosofen. Onze culturele evangelist zal zijn bijdrage aan de Indiase filosofie toelichten, zijn geloof in harmonie van religies. Zijn stellaire werk fungeert als een brug tussen de oude en moderne werelden.
De Vasupujya Swami-tempel is een Shwetambara Jain-tempel en heeft een indrukwekkende architectuur. De tempel is opgedragen aan Lord Mahavira en de andere 24 Tirtankara's (spirituele leraren). De tempel heeft een betoverende sfeer en draagt bij aan de religieuze diversiteit van Mylapore.
De wandeltocht in Chennai brengt ons naar de hoofdkerk van het rooms-katholieke aartsbisdom Madras & Mylapore. Het is een betoverende ervaring in de neogotische basiliek. Het heiligdom bewaart een klein bot en de lans die in het jaar 52 door Saint Thomas ging en dat is inderdaad het hoogtepunt van deze Chennai-wandeling.

Experience was great. Solo tour! Admission fee was 2500 I believe. The length of the tour was about 3 hours. The atmosphere was warm and busy but not too hot, very pleasant. Best for sight of temples and churches in Mylapore. Jainath was my tour guide. He was fantastic and full of information.

I had a wonderful experience with Hareesh. I was a little anxious heading into the tour as a female solo traveler after learning no one else had signed up to join my group tour date but I felt at complete ease with Hareesh who was incredibly friendly and warm. His English was very easy to understand and he was incredibly knowledgeable about the areas of Mylapore that we explored. I would highly recommend this tour to any visitor to Chennai looking to grow more familiar with faith traditions in Chennai (both Hindu and Christian) in an organic way. I had an amazing experience on this tour. I learned a lot about the history of Chennai and how temples of multiple religions have play a major role in the city, from biblical times through today. My guide, Kannan was excellent. He was he extremely knowledgeable, giving me detailed explanations and important context at each stop. He was also very friendly and attentative, making sure I was enjoying my tour, getting good photos, and was doing ok in the extreme May heat. I definitely recommend 5 Senses as a tour provider, and highly recommend my guide, Kannan.
