Monument 30 jaar overwinning in de Tweede Wereldoorlog, of zoals het door de inwoners van Georgië wordt genoemd - de moeder is een eeuwige herinnering, die bezoekende reizigers verwelkomt, evenals lokale bewoners bij de ingang van de zonnige stad Marneuli. Het monument wordt gepresenteerd in de vorm van een bronzen vrouw die achter twee kinderen bouwt met één zwaard voor twee in haar handen. Merab Konstantinovich Berdzenishvili - een uitstekende beeldhouwer uit de Sovjettijd, die dit meesterwerk heeft gemaakt en de bijbehorende prijs ervoor heeft gekregen in 1976. Het basisidee is dat mensen de kosten van het winnen van de oorlog onthouden.
Hier steken we de grens over van Georgië en Armenië. Het overschrijden van de grens duurt meestal 10-20 minuten.
De bossen van Dilijan beslaan een gebied van meer dan 34.000 hectare. Voor de verrijking van het natuurlijke leven rond Dilijan werd het staatsbosreservaat in 1958 opgericht om later in 2002 bekend te worden als Nationaal Park Dilijan. Bossen beslaan 94% van het parkgebied en met ongeveer 40 soorten bomen en 18 soorten bosjes, voornamelijk eiken, beuken, haagbeuken, esdoorns, iepen, wilgen, enz.
Herdenking van een legendarische Sovjetfilm, Monument voor de helden van de film Mimino bevat beelden van hoofdpersonen en biedt een geweldige foto. In het centrum van de stad toont het gedenkteken drie personages die in een gesprek rond een drinkwatertapkraan staan. Een fotomoment voor filmkenners of gewoon een plek om je fles te vullen - hoe dan ook, breng je camera mee.
Bekleed met traditionele huizen en ambachtelijke workshops neemt Sharambeyan Street je honderden jaren terug in de tijd. Gelegen in een nationaal park, het gebied, in de volksmond bekend als "Klein Zwitserland" vanwege de beboste heuvels en pittoreske huizen gemaakt van steen en hout, blijft de thuisbasis van vele Armeense beeldend kunstenaars, muzikanten en filmmakers. Blader door de kleine winkeltjes of kijk in een van de guesthouses. De straat is ook de thuisbasis van een kunstgalerie en een museum.
Lake Sevan - de parel van Armenië, bekend als de Geghama-zee. Het is een van de grootste hooggelegen zoetwatermeren ter wereld. Hier lunch je in een van de restaurants met een prachtig uitzicht. U kunt de Armeense keuken en verse vis uit het meer proberen.
Sevanavank-klooster is het meest prominente monument van middeleeuwse Armeense architectuur. Dit is een kloostercomplex niet ver van de stad Sevan.
Wij keren laat in de avond terug naar Tbilisi, maar we kunnen u ook op uw gemak in Jerevan afzetten.

Very good experience. Learnt a lot from our nice and knowledgeable guide Alexis. He’s a good driver and the car is also good. The whole travel was comfortable. We also had really great local food with his guidance. I still cannot forget taste of that dish of potato! I tried ChatGPT but cannot find name of that potato dish. Look forward to try it again!

Long day in the car to see two or three stops. Stops were nothing exciting and felt more like tourist traps with lots of souvenir vendors. Scenery on a lone the drive was nice and guide was very knowledgeable, but just not enough to see for 12 hours. We opted to skip lunch and it was still 11 hours of winding roads.

The stops visited — such as Dilijan and Sevan — are among the most beloved in Armenia, and while they are popular with tourists, they are far from "traps"; they represent important cultural and natural heritage. We understand that skipping lunch and enduring a long day on winding roads may have been challenging, but these were personal choices within the structure of a well-reviewed tour. Aleski was a brilliant tour guide, and took time to explain all the history and meanings behind our stops. He brought us to a traditional food court for lunch, where we got to have some traditional food. The car was comfortable & clean too!

We had a great time in Armenia on our day trip from Tbilisi to Lake Sevan, with our very knowledgeable guide Guram. He shared with us both Georgian and Armenian history and patiently answered all our many questions. We enjoyed our time in Dilijan and Lake Sevan very much. The border crossing went smoothly both times (took about 20-30 min in the morning, and only about 10 min when we came back at night). Guram drove us safely on this very long day trip. We would definitely recommend him!
