Het Harich Klooster Complex ligt in de Shirak regio, op de noordelijke helling van de Aragats berg. Het bestaat uit twee kerken: St. Gregorius en St. Astvatsatsin, een vestibule, een klokkentoren, bewaarplaatsen, een kapel, een school en andere gebouwen. Er is geen duidelijke informatie bewaard gebleven over de bouw van de eerste kerk van het klooster, maar de analyse van de inscripties op de muren bewijst dat de kerk dateert uit de 7e eeuw. Harichavank was een belangrijk educatief centrum, dat vooral in de 13e eeuw bloeide. Het is een ander staaltje Armeens middeleeuws architectonisch denken, een weerspiegeling van de tijdgeest en een historische getuige. De beroemde Armeense schrijver Avetik Isahakyan kreeg zijn basisonderwijs op de plaatselijke school.
De tweede stad van Armenië, Gyumri, die ook Leninakan, Alexandrapol en in de oorspronkelijke Armeense versie Kumayri heette, werd bewoond sinds het 3e millennium. Na een zeer lange historische weg te hebben afgelegd, presenteert Gyumri zich vandaag met zijn oude binnenstad, die het best bewaard is gebleven in het stadscentrum. Elk gebouw in Gyumri heeft zijn geschiedenis, die rijk is aan Armeense middeleeuwse architectonische geest. Deze toeristische stad is aantrekkelijk vanwege de prachtige gebouwen, straten, kerken en natuurlijk de onherhaalbare, unieke Gyumri-stemming; Gyumri is immers het centrum van humor, kunst en ambacht van Armenië. De drie beroemde kerken van Gyumri en het Zwarte Fort zijn ook inbegrepen in de stadstour.
Het Zwarte Fort is een verdedigingsfort gebouwd van zwarte steen. Het werd gebouwd in 1834 na de Tweede Russisch-Perzische Oorlog. Het drainagesysteem, dat de muren van het kasteel beschermde tegen regen, verdient speciale aandacht. Het Zwarte Fort, nu omgetoverd tot toeristisch centrum, herinnert bezoekers aan zijn militaire verleden.
Op zaterdag bezoeken we in plaats van Harichavank het Marmashen-klooster.

You will be able to see a different glimpse of Armenia via numerous small villages to reach the monastery and ultimately you will arrive at a beautiful city. The guide Hayk was very informed and in perfect English informed about every aspect and driver Vahagn was very carefull. It is of great interest to try to see the Iron Fountain if you can walk which is far away from the centre and the Blue Iron Fountain which is close to the centre.

Yesterday I was on a day trip to Gyumri, Harichavank and Black Fortress with One Way tour and I wanna say a huge thanks to our Guide Tigran who made our trip unforgettable. That was the best tour ever. He’s professionalism is outstanding and our day was amazing, full of interesting stories and jokes. Waiting forward to see him again in other tours as well. Overall a very full and enjoyable day. The tour shuttle was full and we didn't get very good seats, but really that was the only downside. The guide Hayk did a Great Job handling the tour in Armenian and English. The destinations were quite interesting and we felt that we had enough time in each place to explore fully. A very good sightseeing option at a very reasonable price!

The driver Artyom 5+ The guide Tigran 2- Please take care of your guide's training. He is ignorant of Armenian church history and provides wrong information. And he provides either wrong or half done information on everything. Which is unacceptable because he introduces Armenia to foreigners and local people. Guide's job is a serious job. And they should be very well prepared.
