De Noordelijke Côtes du Rhône vallei is op rots gehouwen door generaties wijnmakers langs de Rhône en biedt een opvallend schouwspel met de duizelingwekkende wijngaarden van Cote Rotie & Condrieu. Ontdek de regio Côtes du Rhône door 3 wijnmakerijen en proef de bijna absolute perfectie van Syrah en Viognier-druivensoorten in hun "geboorteplaats":

Om 8.50 uur zal onze Engelssprekende gids u ontmoeten voor de hoofdingang van het Lyon Office de Tourisme-gebouw op het Bellecour-plein (50 m tegenover Le Royal Hotel). Na een korte wandeling stappen de deelnemers in de minibus voor 8 personen om de wijntour door de Côtes du Rhône te beginnen.
Begin deze wijntour van een hele dag in de stad Vienne met een prachtig panorama op de Rhône-vallei vanaf de berg Notre Dame de Pipet. Maak met uw gids kennis met de verschillende druivensoorten van de noordelijke Côtes du Rhône, de appellations van crus-wijnen en de filosofie van de regio die op "terroir" vertrouwt. Neem ook de tijd om het spectaculaire oude Romeinse theater te bewonderen terwijl je gids je vertelt over de fascinerende geschiedenis van de wijnen uit Vienne die 21 eeuwen geleden beroemd waren in Rome.
Steek de stad Ampuis, de wereldhoofdstad van Syrah, over en bezoek de wijngaarden van de "Côte Rotie", letterlijk "geroosterde heuvel". Rijd over de steile, duizelingwekkende terrasvormige hellingen van "Cote Brune" en "Cote Blonde" en waardeer de heuvels met een hoek van 30 tot 60 graden badend in de zon met uitzicht op de prachtige rivier de Rhône.
Bezoek om 10:45 uur een eerste wijnmakerij en leer enkele geheimen over de savoir-faire van de Rhône-wijnmakerij. Loop door de vatenkamer en praat over de kunst van het rijpen van wijn. Ga dan naar de wijnproefruimte en proef 3 witte en 3 rode wijnen waaronder Condrieu, wit & rood St Joseph en Cote Rotie beroemde appellation.
Verwen uzelf met een heerlijke maaltijd in een lokaal restaurant dat gerechten uit de Côtes du Rhône serveert. Onze gids vertaalt en legt graag alle verschillende cursussen voor je uit! Menu's beginnen vanaf € 20 tijdens de week (special van de dag) en € 25 in het weekend. Lunch is NIET inbegrepen.
In de vroege namiddag doorkruist u Condrieu, de geboorteplaats van de Viognier-druif die de wereldberoemde witte wijn produceert. De groep leert haar unieke verhaal kennen, hoe deze druivensoort een paar jaar geleden bijna stierf. Druk vervolgens op de deur van een familiewijnmakerij en proef 5-6 verschillende Cotes du Rhône-wijnen, waaronder de appellations Condrieu, St Joseph en/of Cote Rotie.
Stop ten slotte bij een derde wijnmakerij om jezelf te verrassen met nog eens 5 prachtige Rhône-wijnen: neem de tijd om te genieten van de intense aromatische Viognier en de quasi absolute perfectie van de Syrah-druif van de noordelijke Côtes du Rhône in hun oorspronkelijke terroir.
Om 17:15 uur zet onze gids je af op het Bellecour-plein voor Lyon Office de Tourisme. De perfecte excursie voor liefhebbers van syrah en viognier!

We booked a wine excursion to explore the Rhone Valley wines. Sébastien collected our small group from our hotel and took us for a day’s adventure. We visited three wineries and tasted 4-6 different wines at each. It was very interesting for us because we have had little experience with the wines of this region. We were delighted with some of them and will look to purchase some bottles when we return home. Sébastien took us to a wonderful restaurant on the river for lunch. Throughout the day we peppered him with questions about the wines of the region, French language and culture and many other topics. Since he comes from a family with several generations of wine makers he is deeply knowledgeable. We all thought that he was an excellent host and guide. We are now thinking perhaps of coming to Beaujolais for a day of wine tasting on our next trip. Highly recommended!

We had a wonderful day with Olivier learning all about Northern Cote du Rhône wines and the different AOC. We tasted some amazing reds and whites and visited some unique vineyards. The Cote Rotie area was exceptionally beautiful. Olivier was a great guide explaining the region and the various varietals in an easy to learn way. The day was well organized with a delicious stop for lunch midday. I have been on a few wine tours in different regions and would highly recommend this tour, it was the perfect balance of education and enjoyment! Dont hesitate to book this if you are considering it! Oliver was an excellent tour guide, very knowledgeable and easy to talk to. We learnt a lot from him about the wines and the area. We went to 3 very different wineries and had a lovely lunch along the Rhone river, The Mercedes van was very comfortable for 8 people.

Olivier does a wonderful bilingual tour of the Côtes du Rhône. He picked us up in his comfortable Mercedes Vito van and took us and a French family for a spectacular overview of the valley from the ancient Roman town of Vienne. Over the day, we visited three small family owned wineries and had lunch at Les Epicurieux in Ampuis. It was a perfect day. Highly recommended.
