Cashmere is een buitenwijk die uitsteekt boven de zuidkant van de stad Christchurch op het Zuidereiland van Nieuw-Zeeland. Je kunt de stad Christchurch in één oogopslag zien met een panoramisch uitzicht. Op heldere dagen zijn de Zuidelijke Alpen zichtbaar. Je ziet ook een heel mooi neogotisch historisch gebouw genaamd The Sign of the Takahe. Geniet van het prachtige uitzicht op de stad Christchurch.
Willowbank Wildlife Reserve is een wildpark en natuurreservaat in Christchurch, Nieuw-Zeeland. Het biedt niet alleen openbare tentoonstellingen van verschillende diersoorten, maar ook het behoud van inheemse soorten, waaronder tuatara, bruine wintertaling en Duvaucel's gekko. Willowbank heeft ook het enige paar takahē dat te zien is op het Zuidereiland van Nieuw-Zeeland, buiten een faciliteit van het Department of Conservation. Het is vooral een plek waar je Nieuw-Zeelandse kiwivogels kunt ontmoeten, waardoor bezichtigingen elke keer gegarandeerd zijn. De kiwivogel, die nergens anders in Nieuw-Zeeland te vinden is, komt alleen hier voor.
Cardboard Cathedral werd in augustus 2013 geopend ter vervanging van de Christchurch Cathedral, het symbool van Christchurch City, dat werd beschadigd door de aardbeving in Christchurch in 2011. Het is een kathedraal die nergens anders ter wereld te vinden is, gebouwd met containers voor de buitenmuren en karton voor de binnenkant. Je zult verrast zijn als je de unieke structuur van karton in de kathedraal ziet.
De Botanische Tuin is een bekende plek in Christchurch en de fontein is voor veel mensen al een bekende fotoplek. Christchurch, ook wel de Garden City genoemd, is een anglofiele nederzetting met goed onderhouden tuinen en met bomen omzoomde straten. Het kroonjuweel zijn de 21 hectare grote Christchurch Botanic Gardens, aantrekkelijk gelegen in Hagley Park langs de kronkelende rivier de Avon. De tuinen zijn beplant met duizenden exotische en inheemse planten en bomen, waaronder seizoensbloemen zoals magnolia's, azalea's en 250 soorten rozen. Ontspan terwijl u naar de vele soorten prachtige bloemen en planten kijkt.
Christchurch Arts Centre is een centrum voor kunst, cultuur, onderwijs, creativiteit en ondernemerschap. De gebouwen zijn gebouwd in neogotische stijl en bevinden zich momenteel samen met de Universiteit van Canterbury en de Christchurch Boys and Girls High School. Het is ook een nationaal monument en taonga met de grootste verzameling erfgoedgebouwen van categorie 1 van Nieuw-Zeeland, waaronder 21 van de 23 gebouwen die op de Nieuw-Zeelandse erfgoedlijst staan. Suzy picked us up in Lyttleton after charging us $30 that she informed us about the day prior. We rode in a tiny Nissan Juke that had loud road noise. Suzy was from Korea and could hardly speak or understand English. She would periodically play parts of a guided tour on her phone. We got to the wildlife refuge and were told we had to pay $45 each to enter and given 1 hour to tour it ourselves. She then took us to the botanical gardens which was free to the public. Led us to a rose garden and a fountain and told us she would meet us across the street. Due to her lack of English we couldn’t ask any questions during the tour. We paid $224 to trip advisor plus the fees above! Such a disappointment. We have done several trip advisor tours and never been so disappointed.

The tour itself was fine but we had a driver and not a guide which we were expecting. John is not a kiwi and just drove us to the planned route. Commentary was via pre recorded messages from his mobile phone. The only plus point is that he suggested we take the Gondola to get better views of Christchurch and Lyttelton harbour. We learnt nothing about the areas we went to which is usually a feature of our Viator tours so we were disappointed with this tour.

Whilst we loved the day and it was amazing, it was incredibly disappointing that the photo's Jo (our guide) insisted on taking on her phone were never sent to me. These are precious family memories, and even after several emails requesting the photo's be sent I have simply been ignored. A very unsavory way to end an otherwise amazing day.

Unfortunately our guide drove a Toyota Corolla. There were 2 couples. It was not a big enough car. Other issues was our guide was a college student from Korea. She did not speak English or have the history. This was not her fault this one is on Viator.

Five people crammed into a corolla. Guide only speaks broken English, and it only gets worse. Remember, if you choose this tour, I told you so. Very disappointing.

It was 210.00 for the 2 of us with an additional $35.00 for the Wildlife sanctuary entrance fee for basically an uber around to four stops in the city with a short recording playing over the radio about each stop that played over and over and was interrupted by the gps. Lots of money for not a lot of service.

Detailed city tour and the tour guide really exert an effort to talk about the places that we visited. Though we ran out of time to go to the last place in the itinerary which is the Christchurch Art Gallery and Museum because its already late and we have not eaten our lunch yet.

Nice tour but we were squished in a small vehicle with another couple. It was too many people for a small car. Our tour guide was nice and helpful but we could have benefitted from more of an overview of the day at the beginning of the excursion.
