Ervaar de opmerkelijke natuurlijke landschappen van het Zuid-Eiland door een reis te maken met de TranzAlpine-trein van Christchurch naar Arthur's Pass, die wordt beschouwd als een van 's werelds grootste treinreizen voor het landschap waardoor het passeert. Geniet van een adembenemend uitzicht op de vlaktes van Canterbury, de Zuidelijke Alpen, de ijskoude Waimakariri-rivier, de weelderige beukenbossen en prachtige landschappen. Verken wandelpaden in Arthur's Pass National Park met een spectaculair uitzicht op de bergen en ongerepte watervallen. Leg spiegelbeelden vast bij Lake Pearson en wandel door de majestueuze kalkstenen rotsblokken op Castle Hill. Een perfecte dagtocht voor natuurliefhebbers, wandelaars en avonturiers.

Zodra we u rond 07.00 uur van de door u gekozen locatie hebben opgehaald, brengen we u naar de TranzAlpine voor een van 's werelds mooiste treinreizen. Geniet van adembenemende uitzichten op de Alpen vanuit panoramische ramen of de openluchtkoets. Uw Gids zal u ontmoeten bij Arthur's Pass Station om uw bergtocht te beginnen.
Terwijl u geniet van de treinreis, reist uw Gids vooruit om u te ontmoeten op het perron bij Arthur's Pass Station. Vanaf daar rijden we naar het Viaduct van Otira voor een spectaculair uitzicht – inclusief de levendige rode Rata-bloemen in de zomer. Kijk uit naar de brutale Kea, de nieuwsgierige alpenpapegaai van Nieuw-Zeeland! Onze bergverkenning gaat verder met een bezoek aan de prachtige Avalanche Creek Waterval en verschillende andere schilderachtige hoogtepunten in het Nationaal Park.
Voor het hoogtepunt van uw middag raden wij u de Devils Punchbowl wandelroute aan. Een ontspannen wandeling van 1 uur leidt u door weelderig beukenbos naar de voet van een donderende waterval van 131 - meter. De pure kracht van het water en de mist op je gezicht maken dit een onvergetelijke alpine ervaring
Geniet na uw wandeling van een welverdiende rustpauze in het charmante Arthur's Pass-dorp. Je hebt genoeg tijd om te lunchen in een lokaal café, door het historische bezoekerscentrum te bladeren of gewoon de rustige bergsfeer op te snuiven voordat we onze reis voortzetten
Onze terugreis naar Christchurch neemt een andere route over de weg, met landschappen die de treinsporen niet bereiken. Onze eerste stop is het serene Lake Pearson. Dit hooggelegen meer is beroemd om zijn glazige, spiegelachtige reflecties van de omliggende bergen - een droom van een fotograaf en een perfecte plek voor een rustige middagpauze.
Stop bij Flock Hill : Ontdek de prachtige filmlocatie 'Narnia'. Deze site was te zien in Disney's The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe als het primaire slagveld – een spectaculaire omgeving omringd door de ruige schoonheid van de Craigieburn Valley.
Ons laatste hoogtepunt : Ervaar de 'Schat van verre' bij Kura Tāwhiti. Voor de Ngāi Tahu iwi heeft dit gebied de Tōpuni status – een symbolische mantel van bescherming over zijn heilige waarden. Terwijl je over het makkelijk toegankelijke pad loopt, zoek je naar sporen van 500 jaar oude houtskooltekeningen en leer je hoe deze rotsen 30 miljoen jaar geleden werden gevormd toen Nieuw-Zeeland nog onder een ondiepe binnenzee lag.
We laten de bergen achter ons en trekken over de uitgestrekte Canterbury Plains. We maken nog een laatste, heerlijke stop in het landelijke stadje Springfield om de beroemde reuzendonut te zien – een must-photo bezienswaardigheid! Van daaruit is het een ontspannen laatste etappe terug naar de stad, waar we afscheid nemen en je afzetten op de door jou gekozen locatie.

Omdat de zon laat in de zomer ondergaat, geniet u nog steeds van de hele reis in vol daglicht met spectaculaire uitzichten.

I thoroughly enjoyed this tour. Our guide, whose name I didn’t get, did a wonderful job taking us around Arthur’s Pass and Castle Hill and providing information on the area. The bus was delayed picking up the group in Arthur’s Pass after the train ride, but the company did a great job with keeping the group updated as to when our guide would arrive. The hike up to the Devil’s Punchbowl Falls was worth it, and the loop at Castle Hill was great as well. I would recommend this tour.

I thoroughly enjoyed every minute of this tour. I cant recommend it enough for the solo traveller. The other participants were lovely, the guide was fabulous, and the scenery was mind blowing. The many stops to take photographs and go for good walks were just the right amount.

We had a fantastic day. It was a great way to see the country side as well as explore the forest and see the waterfalls at Arthur's Pass. VJ was our tour guide and he was very knowledgeable. We started the day by taking the Alpine Train to Arthur's pass. Then VJ took us to beautiful scenic spot and showed us where filming took place for the Lion the witch and the wardrobe. He also shared NZ snacks with us. It was a wonderful way to spend a day in Christchurch.

I did enjoy our tour from Christchurch via TranzAlpine to Arthurs’ path and back to the city. Our tour guide are accommodating and providing good insights and explanation. He provides guidance or alternative activity for some who cant do a hike. We did a couple of small stops for scenic lookout when we are going back to the City. The tour was not rush and we are able to be back to the city earlier than expected Highly recommended tour!
