Ontdek het paradijselijke geheim verborgen in de bergen van Tierra del Fuego: de Laguna Esmeralda-trekking. Hou je van de natuur en de bergen? Dan is deze wandeling iets voor jou. Je gaat een van de mooiste foto's maken van Tierra del Fuego. We halen je op bij je hotel en we rijden 16 kilometer per voertuig langs Nationale Route nr. 3 tot we het begin van het pad bereiken. Het avontuur begint! In totaal wacht u 9 kilometer (heen en terug) wandelen door het bos: gletsjervalleien, beverboerderijen, veenmoerassen en de Vuurlandse magie die u de hele reis vergezelt. Deze wandeling wordt beschouwd als van gemiddelde moeilijkheidsgraad en vertoont geen noemenswaardige oneffenheden.

We maken een technische stop in Valle de Lobos, waar de gids ons (indien nodig) zal laten zien hoe we veiligheidsuitrusting zoals stijgijzers correct moeten gebruiken en klaarmaken.
Onderweg naar Laguna Esmeralda nodigt een stop bij de Mirador del Valle Carbajal u uit om even stil te staan en een van de meest indrukwekkende landschappen van Vuurland te bewonderen. Vanaf dit panoramische uitzichtpunt ontvouwt zich een uitgestrekt dal van glaciale oorsprong, bedekt met veenmoerassen, kronkelende rivieren en omgeven door het imposante Fuegische gebergte. Het is de ideale plek om foto's te maken, frisse lucht in te ademen en in contact te komen met de natuur in haar puurste vorm. Op heldere dagen maken de contrasterende kleuren en de uitgestrektheid van het landschap deze stop tot een onvergetelijk moment tijdens de excursie.
Het bereiken van Emerald Lagoon is het hoogtepunt van de wandeling, waar de natuur op haar mooist is. Het intens groene water, gevoed door het smeltwater van de Ojo del Albino-gletsjer, contrasteert met de omringende bergen, bossen en veengebieden. Het landschap is sereen en majestueus, ideaal om te rusten, foto's te maken en te genieten van een uniek moment in het hart van het Fuegische gebergte. Het is een plek die uitnodigt om even los te komen van de dagelijkse sleur, de stilte te waarderen en een onvergetelijke herinnering aan het einde van de wereld mee naar huis te nemen.

When I read the description of this tour, I thought that I would have no problems because all that was indicated was: Not recommended for travelers with back problems, No heart problems or other serious medical conditions, Not recommended for pregnant travelers, Most people can participate, and if you come with inappropriate attire, you will be refused. I complied with all those, and even if I use a walking cane to support my balance, I can still do treks. We even hurried the night before to a gear rental shop to rent proper hiking boots. Unfortunately, when the guide saw my condition on the day of the tour, we were denied participation and I was really sad this happened but I understand that they are just concerned for my safety. They offered a full refund but I did not want the day to go to waste (aside from the boots rental fee which went to waste already) and so they transferred us to the afternoon tour, the Classic 4 x 4 drive to the lakes of Ushuaia and it was a wonderful and enjoyable tour. So fair enough and all's well that ends well.

Ours was about a 90 minute hike each way. It was colder and more wind as we got close to lake. We put on gloves at the lake. Plan on layering and keep clothing change in backpack. Stocking caps never taken off and pulled down over ears for a few sections of hike. Rent boots as the shoes you wear will get muddy and wet! Stretches of hike are over muddy/boggy areas & streams. Part of the trek is up hill over rocky terrain. It is a gorgeous hike with mtn & pastoral vistas. Couple stores in Ushuaia rent the hike boots. Only disappointment was when we got back to meeting point parking lot after the hike had to wait an hour for van pickup. Gascon, our guide, apologized and said should not have happened. Gascon nice and friendly but did not provide much info on the areas we were hiking through. If that is of interest read up before you go.

Laguna Esmeralda is a beautiful but truly Patagonian hike — changing weather, wind near the lake, muddy sections and rocky terrain are all part of the experience. Our guide Antonela was great and very experienced. She responded very well to the different needs in the group and seemed very competent and professional. Good clothing, good hiking boots and medium fitness are required.
