Treed in de voetsporen van Dick Winters en zijn Band of Brothers tijdens operatie Market-Garden en op het eiland. Je bezoekt alle plaatsen die verband houden met de Band of Brothers-saga in Nederland. Het is een drukke tour dus "Hang Tough". En we lunchen bij een interessant museum. 10-11 uur tourduur is inclusief reistijd. Het battlefield tour karakter van deze reis betekent veel kortere en langere ritten naar en tussen locaties.

Na 1,5 uur rijden vanaf Amsterdam komen we aan bij Dropzone C. Dit was het landingsterrein van Easy Company. Ze hielden van de zachte landing in de velden en we kunnen zien waarom. De boerderij Paulushoef werd gebruikt als verzamelpunt en de lokale bevolking was druk bezig met het helpen van gewonde en dorstige airbornes. De boerderij is niet open voor bezoekers.
Vanaf de dropzone volgen we de opmars van Easy compagnie tot aan de brug bij Son. Het werd opgeblazen door de Duitsers. Er werd een loopbrug geïmproviseerd en de opmars naar Eindhoven ging door. Later probeerden de Duitsers de brug te heroveren met een pantseraanval die na een hard gevecht werd verslagen.
In Eindhoven zien we de straat waar het feestvierde terwijl Easy compagnie naar voren trok om de Dommelbrug te veroveren en wachtte op de tanks van de Guards Armoured Division. Later werd de stad gebombardeerd door de Duitsers.
We rijden naar Nuenen. Hier had Easy Company een zwaar gevecht met 107 Panzer Brigade die vanuit het oosten aanviel. Nuenen staat ook wel bekend als Vincent Van Gogh Village.
We stoppen voor de lunch en een bezoek aan het Wings of Liberation museum. Het museum is gewijd aan de operatie Market-Garden. U kunt verklarende kaarten en uniformen, uitrusting en voertuigen zien die worden gebruikt in sfeervolle displays. Het is gelegen in een bosrijk gebied op een opslagterrein uit de Koude Oorlog. Op maandag is het museum gesloten.
De Duitsers deden wanhopige pogingen om "Hells Highway" de opmars en aanvoerroute van het XXX-korps af te snijden. De Molen bij Eerde en de weg bij Koevering waren zeer omstreden plaatsen.
Bij deze boerderij op The Island is de beroemde foto van Dick Winters gemaakt bij de voordeur. We stoppen hier zodat jij hetzelfde kunt doen. Aan de weg staat een monument voor Easy Company dat de inzet van het eiland dekt. De boerderij is niet open voor bezoek.
Onze laatste stop is bij de Crossroads waar een detachement van Easy Company 2 Duitse SS-compagnieën tegenkwam en hen op de vlucht joeg. Je zult zien hoe open het terrein is met alleen bedekking van dijken en afwateringssloten. Een klein monument herdenkt de actie. Vanaf hier is het ongeveer 1,5 uur terug naar Amsterdam.

This experience meant far more to us than we expected. Standing in the very places where the soldiers of Operation Market Garden fought and fell gave us a sense of connection that was deeply personal for my family of 4. This experience wasn’t just about learning history—it was experiencing the places of history that books and movies cannot express. Hearing the stories while walking the same ground made the war feel closer, more human, and profoundly real. We found ourselves imagining their decisions, their sacrifices, and the impossible moments they faced. It gave us a new level of respect for the men who fought though out the Netherlands and left a lasting impression that we will take with us for the rest of our lives. Jip did an outstanding job of bringing all of these stories to life. He presented pictures, accounts, and his own unique blend of experience that accentuated this trip. This is by far one of the best experiences myself and my family have had in our travels, and we are greatly appreciative of Jip for helping us create family memories that will last a lifetime. We all 50, 40ish, 20 and 12 year olds, recommend this adventure. (5 stars is not enough)

Jip was outstanding in his knowledge of Easy Co 506th, Band of Brothers and Operation Market Garden. He took us to all the key sites, from the Easy Co. drop zone through The Crossroads, which included a visit to a very cool museum. Was a bucket list tour for me and it exceeded my expectations! Had a running conversation with Jip all day about Easy Co and Operation Market Garden, regarding tactics, personnel, and US Army/British Senior Leaders. Jip took us on an incredible day trip from Amsterdam to Bastogne and Foy! My husband is a passionate about World War II, particularly the journey Easy Company had through Europe. When he saw that we could do this tour, it was a must!
