Il tour inizia con il prelievo dal tuo hotel tra le 4:00 e le 4:30 del mattino Una volta completato il gruppo, inizieremo il tour. Viaggeremo per circa tre ore su un mezzo di trasporto turistico fino alla cittadina di Santa Lucía. Lungo il percorso faremo una sosta a Cusipata per gustare una deliziosa colazione prima di proseguire il nostro viaggio.
Da Santa Lucía faremo una deviazione che ci porterà, in circa 15 minuti, lungo una strada a zigzag fino al punto conosciuto come Punta Carretera. Lì faremo una breve pausa di 10 minuti per prepararci e definire i dettagli prima di iniziare l'escursione verso il complesso archeologico di Waqrapukara. Una volta che tutto sarà pronto, inizieremo la nostra camminata verso Waqrapukara. Sarà un tour di circa 90 minuti lungo antichi sentieri e attraverso paesaggi da sogno. Lungo i 2,5 chilometri, l'energia delle Ande accompagnerà ogni passo.
Waqrapukara, nota anche come Fortezza delle Corna, è un gioiello archeologico di Cusco, situato sopra l'imponente canyon del fiume Apurímac. Questo sito Inca è costituito da terrazze, piazze cerimoniali e spettacolari formazioni rocciose che creano un paesaggio unico. Nonostante la sua bellezza e il suo mistero, Waqrapukara rimane una destinazione poco esplorata dai viaggiatori. Il suo nome deriva dal quechua: “Waqra” (corno) e “Pukara” (fortezza) e riflette il suo carattere sacro e difensivo. Costruita dagli antichi Qanchi e in seguito annessa all'Impero Inca, Waqrapukara è stata riconosciuta nel 2017 come patrimonio culturale nazionale dal Ministero della Cultura peruviano.
Dopo aver visitato Waqrapukara, torneremo lungo lo stesso sentiero fino a Punta Carretera, dove il nostro mezzo di trasporto sarà pronto per riportarci a Cusipata. In questa pittoresca cittadina, gusteremo un pranzo semi-buffet con prelibatezze andine. Poi, continueremo il viaggio verso la città di Cusco
Dopo pranzo e una breve pausa, faremo ritorno alla città di Cusco, dove arriveremo verso le 18:00 (il servizio termina a 1 isolato dalla Plaza de Armas di Cusco).

Let me be clear, Waqrapukara is definitely worth a visit. But I did not really like the tour we booked. You spend a total of 8 hours (!) on bumpy roads trying to reach the start of the hiking path and back. The hike itself is beautiful and absolutely worth it. However, when we finally arrived at the ruins, we had about 30 mins to actually see them. We spent quite some time taking pictures with the group, which is nice, but not if you lose time to discover the site. We had only 10 mins to climb the mountain next to the site to have a panoramic view. Which is also spectacular. Within moments after arriving at the top the guide started yelling from below that we had to go. And then we had to wait several times. When we arrived back at the vehicle, and again after lunch. So, we hurried to get back for no reason at all. Only to drive back another 4 hours to Cusco. A missed chance to make this an amazing day. I would recommend for the tour operator to give visitors at least an hour (maybe 1,5 hours) to visit this magical site. I would have loved to have lunch there (a sandwich would have been enough) while enjoying the stunning views.
