Visiteremo Hondarribia, la cittadina dai due volti che si affaccia sulle spiagge e le scogliere della vicina Francia. Si consiglia di andare con lo stomaco felice perché conosceremo (e godremo) una società gastronomica dall'interno. Come? Mangiare, bere, brindare e celebrare la vita come i baschi.

Itinerario
Inizierai il tuo viaggio a San Sebastian e percorrerai una delle strade più panoramiche lungo la costa basca, dove il paesaggio aspro del Monte Jaizkibel taglia l'oceano. Sulla strada, la guida ti fornirà un'introduzione sulla storia della zona e su cosa aspettarti durante l'esperienza.
Per prima cosa, ci fermeremo nel porto peschereccio di Hondarribia e ci immergeremo nella storia di marinai, pirati ed esploratori locali per capire l'intima relazione tra i baschi e l'oceano. Ti immergerai anche in alcune delle più antiche tradizioni di pesca e scoprirai quali sono le nostre prelibatezze di pesce preferite.
Continueremo verso il villaggio di pescatori chiamato Marina, dove gli anziani si radunano su panchine piene di vivaci bar con pintxo San Pedro Street. Edifici colorati situati lungo questa passeggiata erano vecchi mercatini di pesce e capanne di pescatori. Non c'è posto migliore di Marina dove fermarsi per un drink - "topa" (evviva)!
Da Marina faremo una piacevole passeggiata fino alla parte fortificata di Hondarribia che pone le basi per alcune delle più gloriose battaglie dei Paesi Baschi. Le sue strade strette, i fiori drappeggiati dai balconi e il fascino medievale creano un'atmosfera e un contesto culturale straordinari. Ci prenderà anche del tempo per scoprire una collezione nascosta di arazzi di Rubens nel castello dell'Imperatore Carlo V.
Spero che tu abbia fame perché è giunto il momento di andare in segreto, società gastronomica basca! "Txokos" - come li chiamiamo in Euskara non sono solo posti in cui cucinare e mangiare, ma soprattutto svolgono un ruolo enormemente importante nella nostra vita sociale. Saremo accolti dal nostro amico e da un eccellente chef - Fernando che, apparentemente, è caduto in una pentola di terracotta con stufato di pesce basco "marmitako" da bambino e da allora non può vivere senza cucinare ... e mangiare! Fernando preparerà per noi un'autentica cena basca utilizzando prodotti della più alta qualità provenienti dal giardino locale e dal porto di pesca che abbiamo visitato oggi. I tuoi piatti si riempiranno in sequenza di acciughe deliziose, insalata di pomodoro basco con tonno marinato in casa, coda di rospo al forno e "pantxineta" - crema pasticcera alla vaniglia, pasta sfoglia e dessert di mandorle arrosto! La società gastronomica è un'opportunità unica per partecipare attivamente a una cultura locale: cucinare, mangiare, cantare e ridere come se fossi basco per un giorno!

Great Basque country tour with IKUSNAHI tours. This is our first time to Basque country and Ikusnahi tour has planned well according to our love for scenary, food & wine. We did not feel rush. Have enough time for each stop. Winenary selection is great and food at gastronomy society is good too. If you can get a few friends, go for their 3-4 days private tour, tailor for your preference. This is the BEST way to experience the basque country -- by the experienced Basque guides.

We had an unforgettable evening with our awesome guide Anya. We spent the first half of the tour traveling to Basque landmarks and exploring the 13th century medieval town of Hondarribia. Anya was incredibly knowledgeable and took the time to explain the history of everything that we were seeing. The highlight of the city is the castle, which is now a hotel. After the tour, Anay took us to her private gastronomy and social club where we had an incredible dinner. We learned about the food that we were eating and the proper way to serve the local wine. Each course was prepared by a private chef that put his love and passion into everything he served. We felt like we were eating dinner at someone’s house. If you can for this tour into your agenda, do not miss it!
Ania is the best tour guide EVER. She went above and beyond any expectation we had. She made the experience of every moment very special. Andres, our chef, was delightful. And omg the food!! It was our first experience at a gastronomic society and we loved it. We went up into the hills to see the natural boundary between Spain and France, and then on to Hondarribia. Ania shared some of the history of the region, which we thoroughly enjoyed. We had the best day, it is a highlight we will never forget.
It is a very complete visit, not only to get to know the magnificent town of Hondarribia, but also to learn about the local culture and traditions. Meal in the society is a unique experience, with a very good menu of very good quality and an opportunity to get to know the true way of life of the local people. The guides Ania and Ernes were magnificent, authentic experts who made my visit super enjoyable and unforgettable.
Visiting Ernes' gastronomic society for dinner was a highlight of our trip. Get an inside perspective on a typical Basque tradition. Great food and incredibly interesting.
Amazing experience with IKUSNAHI tours. We did 3 separate tours from San Sebastián during our week there. Ania, our tour guide for all 3, was awesome. Her attitude, knowledge and personality really made us feel like we were traveling with a local friend.
Enjoyed our tour in Hondarribia in the Basque Country. Our historic tour of the city and the fortress that was our hotel was wonderful. Our evening eating pintxos in the bar was unbelievable. I thought they would never stop coming along with the Basque white wine , it was all delicious. And finally our dinner prepared for us at the Men’s Gastronomic club was superb.
We we were fortunate enough secure three programs with Ikusnahi Tours and got to meet both Mikel and Ernes. One was an entertaining, yet fascinating, historic tour of Hondarribia (during which we also learned more about Basque people and their culture). The second experience was a pintxos dinner at one of Hondarribia's many great eateries. The third was an evening at the Hondarribia Gastronomic Society. Here we were regaled with authentic local dishes and wines, as well as with stories and a wealth of information. Our evening at the "club" was like being invited into a family's home: quite a privilege!
