La prima cattedrale cristiana di Echmiadzin fu fondata nel IV secolo a.C., il cui nome significa "luogo della discesa dell'Unigenito". Una caratteristica della Cattedrale è che oltre all'altare maggiore nella parte orientale, c'è un altro altare nel mezzo, nel luogo della discesa di Cristo. Nel limite destro della Cattedrale di Etchmiadzin c'è il Museo del Tesoro, dove sono custodite reliquie, abiti da chiesa, ricamati con oro e perle, aste e croci di cattolici, numerosi oggetti rituali fatti di oro, argento e avorio. Sul territorio del complesso monastico si trova anche la residenza del patriarca armeno - il Catholicos di tutti gli armeni. Anche qui vedrai molte pietre miliari, di cui "Amenaprakich" (1279), e la pietra miliare dedicata alle vittime del genocidio del 1915.
Il tempio di Saint Hripsime fu fondato nel VII secolo da Catholicos Komitas I Aghtsetsi al posto di un sepolcro di Saint Hripsime. Dal 2000 il tempio di Saint Hripsime è stato inserito nella lista del patrimonio mondiale dell'UNESCO. Due eminenti cattolici armeni sono sepolti nel cortile del tempio di Saint Hripsime. Sono Catholicos Astvatsatur (1715-1725) e Catholicos Garaped II Oolnetzi (1725-1729).
Il tempio di St. Gayane fu costruito in onore di St. Gayane nel VII secolo sul luogo della cappella del IV secolo, che è uno dei migliori monumenti dell'architettura armena. Le reliquie di Saint Gayane sono conservate nella parete meridionale del tempio, vicino alla nicchia dell'altare.
