La tappa successiva è al complesso monastico di Noravank, unico nella sua costruzione in quanto la Chiesa della Santa Madre di Dio è l'unico monastero a due piani in Armenia. Il prossimo è il monastero di Tatev, un centro spirituale che aveva un eccezionale significato scientifico e politico. Il monastero è circondato da una natura meravigliosa. Sulla via del ritorno da Tatev prenderai la funivia più lunga del mondo senza fermate "Tatever".

Khor Virap è il più famoso sito di pellegrinaggio in Armenia, in quanto è direttamente collegato con l'adozione del cristianesimo. Come religione di stato, il cristianesimo in Armenia fu adottato nel 301 grazie agli sforzi di San Gregorio L'Illuminatore, che, prima di convertire il re Trdat III al cristianesimo, fu imprigionato nelle segrete, sulle quali fu costruita una chiesa del monastero di Khor Virap nel XVII secolo. Dal monastero si può ammirare la vista mozzafiato del Monte Ararat biblico.
Superando una stradina, circondata da rocce di cento grotte, si scopre una scena di armonia dell’architettura con la natura. Il monastero, custodito con raffinate soluzioni architettoniche e lussuosi abbellimenti, è uno dei più brillanti esempi di architettura armena del XIII secolo. Noravank è costituita da chiese di San Karapet, San Gregorio Illuminatore e Sant'Astvatsatsin (Santa Madre di Dio) a due piani, che si distingue per la sua opera costruttiva e scultorea ideale.
Le campane della chiesa suonavano forte a Tatev il 16 ottobre 2010, annunciando il lancio di un programma per far rivivere un complesso monastico medievale e l'apertura della funivia "Wings of Tatev". La funivia di 5,7 km, costruita in 11 mesi, passa attraverso una profonda gola del fiume Vorotan e su colline, ricoperte da foreste lussureggianti. La tranvia è sostenuta da tre torri tra i suoi due terminal. Un terminal è su una collina, che domina il villaggio di Halidzor e l'altro è vicino al monastero di Tatev, sulla strada per il villaggio di Tatev. Due cabine operano contemporaneamente, viaggiando in direzioni opposte. Ci sono 6 cavi in totale (3 per ogni rustico), ognuno previsto in modo univoco per le specifiche di questo progetto. Nel giro di circa 11 minuti un rustico tram conduce i passeggeri, 30 alla volta, dal villaggio di Halidzor al magnifico complesso di Tatev.
Tra i pilastri architettonici di Zangezour, il monastero di Tatev non ha i suoi "rivali". Era il monastero medievale più ricco dell'Armenia. Oltre ad essere un centro religioso, Tatev era anche l'importante centro strategico del regno di Syunik. Essendo situato su un luogo naturalmente difeso, il monastero di Tatev è sempre stato una fortezza inespugnabile per gli alieni. In condizioni politiche non stabili diverse vie segrete nel territorio della fortezza portavano al canyon e servivano da collegamento tra il monastero e il mondo esterno.

Great tour and amazing guide and driver (Samvell and Spartacus)
I went on a tour to Khor Virap, Noravank and Tatev and it was one of the best days I had in Armenia. Our guide Samvel was amazing, full of knowledge, telling us interesting things about Armenia as we were driving and telling us a lot about the history of the places we visited. He also gave us detailed information at the stops, introducing us to Armenian heritage. The lunch brake was wonderful- we were eating at a local restaurant with delicious Armenian food and wine. I’m very pleased with informational as well as organizational part of my tour- our driver Spartakus was amazing, driving very carefully and for a long time. Bus was very clean and comfortable. The only minus was the length of free time in the monasteries- we had around 20 minutes for ourselves. It could be 5-10 minutes longer, but I totally understand from where it comes from- the schedule is very tight and intense in a good way! I totally recommend this tour, I’d love to go for another one with Hyur Services :))
We had a great experience on this tour with Semvan the tour guide and Spartacus the driver. It is the longest day tour of hyur. Everything was on time we felt relaxed. Sam gave us lots of interesting info of the sights and managed all special requests to fulfill. We are greatful for his kindness. Spartacus the driver had a very demanding job I think and he did it at maximum level. I offer everyone to participate in this day tour, don't be afraid of the length, it worth every minute!
Tour guide was very nice friendly and knowledgable. Restaurant for lunch was amazing. Just the length of the tour was long hence the way back was quite tiring and long. The bus made kind of noise which was annoying. But overall all good

Ok, so our whole day tour consisted of Khor Virap, Noravank, Tatev monasteries (wayback on Ropeway). We had Joseph as our driver who was excellent, and our tour guide Eduard who was just amazing. He was friendly, knowledgeable and made a very very long day enjoybale and one to remember. The meal was delicious! If you are thinking about this tour just go for it. The views were stunning.

This is by far the longest and most tiring trip but totally worth it. Ana is very knowledgeable about the places we visited. We’ve enjoyed our time with her. Araik, the driver is the superstar.
