Il tempio di Garni, uno dei monumenti storici e architettonici più famosi tra i turisti, si trova nella provincia di Kotayk. È l'unica struttura conservata in Armenia del periodo pagano, dedicata al dio Mihr. Prima di raggiungere il tempio, faremo una sosta sulla strada per Charents Arch, da dove si apre una splendida vista sul Monte Ararat. Quindi visiteremo il Monastero di Geghard (Ayrivank), dove secondo la leggenda, dal XIII secolo qui fu conservata la lancia con cui Cristo fu trafitto. Come parte del tour, visiteremo la gola del fiume Azat, dove vedremo la "Sinfonia delle pietre", un miracolo della natura. Il monumento naturale, noto anche come ՛՛Organo di basalto, è famoso per le sue magnifiche rocce apparentemente artificiali.

Passando per il villaggio di Voghjaberd, l’architetto Rafael Israelyan notava spesso che dalla collina vicina si apre una splendida vista sul monte Ararat. E qui, nel 1957, Israelyan completò la struttura che progettò, che si chiama il Tempio del Monte Ararat. L'ultima riga della poesia di Yeghishe Charents è incisa a grandi lettere visibili sull'ingresso principale. "Andate nel mondo; non c'è vetta bianca come l'Ararat, come il sentiero della gloria acerba; amo la mia montagna Masis." Ben presto il luogo prese il suo nuovo, popolare e più diffuso nome - L'Arco di Charents. Iniziamo il tour con il belvedere del Monte Ararat, il simbolo dell'Armenia.
Il monastero di Geghard è un monastero medievale nella provincia di Kotayk, parzialmente scavato nella montagna adiacente, circondato da scogliere. Il nome comunemente usato per il monastero oggi, Geghard, o più completamente Geghardavank, che significa "il Monastero della Lancia", deriva dalla lancia che aveva ferito Gesù alla Crocifissione. Si ritiene che la lancia sia stata portata in Armenia dall'apostolo Giuda, chiamato qui Taddeo, e conservata tra molte altre reliquie. Ora è esposto nel tesoro di Echmiadzin. Il complesso monastico è elencato come patrimonio mondiale dell'UNESCO con uno stato di protezione rafforzata.
La tappa successiva è l'organo di basalto, la Sinfonia di pietre. L'accumulo di pietre tagliate naturalmente con meravigliosa simmetria è una vera meraviglia naturale e anche parte del patrimonio mondiale dell'UNESCO. Le pietre esagonali, allungate una dopo l'altra attraverso il canyon, sembrano un organo, da cui il nome.
Il tempio, costruito nel I secolo ed esistente da secoli, fu distrutto e si alzò di nuovo in piedi. Racconta dell'Armenia precristiana e del popolo armeno. Il tempio dedicato a Mitra, il Dio del Sole, è l'unico tempio pagano conservato sia in Armenia che nel territorio dell'ex URSS. Il tempio fu distrutto da un devastante terremoto nel 1679 e fu restaurato per circa 8 anni, 1968-75.
