Il villaggio di Oshakan è stato un luogo sacro dal V secolo, quando nel 440 a causa degli sforzi del duca Vahan Amatuni fu sepolto lì il creatore dell'alfabeto armeno Mesrop Mashtots e una piccola chiesa fu costruita sulla sua tomba. Nel diciannovesimo secolo al posto di quella vecchia fu costruita una chiesa più grande che porta il nome di St. Mesrop Mashtots. Ogni anno molti scolari di prima classe imparano la prima lettera dell'alfabeto in questa chiesa dopo un giuramento alla tomba di St. Mashtots.
Questa chiesa squisita è considerata il gioiello di Ashtarak. Assomiglia a un pilastro monolitico per le sue dimensioni ridotte e soluzioni architettoniche. Fu costruito nel VII secolo ed è giunto quasi intatto ai nostri giorni. Ha una pianta a forma di croce dall'interno e dall'esterno.
A 5 km dal monastero di Hovhanavank, ai margini del canyon del fiume Kasakh, nei duchi vachutiani del XIII secolo fu costruito il monastero di Saghmosavank. La chiesa principale è adiacente allo scriptorium, dove molti manoscritti sono stati prodotti nel corso dei secoli. Saghmosavank subì la devastante influenza del terremoto del 1988. La ricostruzione completata nel 2000 restituì alla chiesa la sua bellezza e gloria.
Il monastero di Hovhannavank porta il nome di Giovanni Battista. La chiesa più antica qui è la basilica a una sola navata costruita nel V secolo. Nel 13 ° secolo, con il patrocinio dei duchi vachutiani furono aggiunti nuovi edifici. Il portale della chiesa principale, che è impreziosito da motivi evangelici, è di grande interesse.

Hyur, a truly professional tour company and deserving of all the accolades from our recent trip to Armenia. The tour guides were exceptional with their knowledge and hospitality, the drivers were aware of our needs, the vehicles were clean and one felt that the trip home was a definite, no breaking down! Overall we took four tours and all of the tour guides and drivers names I cannot recall however Hamas, Karen, Rose and Cross and each of the other guides and drivers a huge thank you not forgetting the administration staff who always had a smile for us no matter what our request was. We are stuck here in Yerevan due to the pandemic and the only joy we could afford was going on tour through Hyur. Actually it was so nice there was an individual option cause we think it's not safe at all to travel with many other people. So we went to nice churches close to Yerevan with beautiful nature surrounded. Trip lasted like 5hours. Totally recommended for the professional driver and safe ride.
