Laguardia è un affascinante villaggio della Spagna noto per le sue strade strette e acciottolate e l'impianto urbano medievale a forma di mandorla. Presenta mura fortificate e una rete di cunicoli sotterranei utilizzati storicamente come cantine. Con la sua ricca storia e paesaggi pittoreschi, Laguardia offre uno sguardo unico nel passato.
L'azienda vinicola Ostatu, situata nell'incantevole città di Samaniego nella regione della Rioja Alavesa, è una storica tenuta a conduzione familiare con radici che risalgono a oltre 250 anni fa. Ospitata in un edificio del XVIII secolo che un tempo fungeva da locanda di campagna, l'azienda vinicola riflette la profonda ospitalità e le ricche tradizioni dei Paesi Baschi. La famiglia Sáenz de Samaniego gestisce 40 ettari di vigneti, coltivando varietà di uve come Tempranillo, Graciano e Malvasia. L'azienda vinicola Ostatu è rinomata per il suo impegno per la qualità e l'innovazione, fondendo metodi tradizionali con tecniche moderne per produrre vini eccezionali.
Successivamente, visitiamo la Bodega Gómez Cruzado, una delle più antiche cantine del Barrio de la Estación di Haro, fondata nel 1886. Bodegas Roda, una cantina moderna ma elegante situata accanto allo storico Barrio de la Estación di Haro. Costruita sopra una ex cantina sotterranea del XIX secolo, la cantina è progettata per lavorare con gravità e condizioni naturali, combinando l'architettura contemporanea con la filosofia tradizionale della vinificazione. Esploriamo la cantina sotterranea prima di gustare una degustazione dei loro rinomati vini, tra cui il rosso Roda I e il bianco Roda I, accompagnati da una degustazione del loro olio d'oliva di alta qualità.

I really can’t rate this trip highly enough. Luis our driver and guide was fantastic. He had lots of information about the region, about the history and about life! The tour packs in quite a lot so definitely get breakfast before you go as you visit the three wineries before lunch. Each of the wineries had a unique approach to their wine whether it was experimenting with different storage or their use of grapes. All the wines were delicious and the staff at each of the wineries were very knowledgeable. And lunch was fantastic. It’s a local family run restaurant that transports you back in time. Definitely have the lamb ribs! One of the highlights of my time in the region 😊
We had a fantastic experience on the Rioja Uncorked tour with Ikusnahi Tours and cannot recommend it highly enough. Our guide, Ernes, picked us up promptly at 8:15 a.m. in a comfortable Mercedes six-passenger van and immediately set the tone for an exceptional day. During the drive to Rioja, he shared a fascinating history of the region, taught us a few Basque phrases, and gave us an excellent introduction to Rioja wines and the different classifications used to categorize them. His knowledge, enthusiasm, and friendliness made the journey as enjoyable as the winery visits themselves. Over the course of the day, we visited four wineries, enjoying three wines at each stop along with thoughtfully selected snacks. Every winery host was welcoming, informative, and passionate about their wines. The tastings were generous, the wines were delicious, and each winery offered a unique perspective on the region’s winemaking traditions. The scenery throughout the day was absolutely stunning. The drive through Rioja wine country is gorgeous, with beautiful landscapes in every direction. Despite fitting so much into the day, the pace never felt rushed, and we were comfortably back at our apartment by 5:00 p.m. If you’re visiting the Basque Country and have any interest in wine, this tour is an absolute must. Outstanding guide, wonderful wineries, excellent wines, breathtaking scenery, and seamless organization from start to finish. Five stars!
We were a group of six friends who did a full day Rioja wine tour from Bilbao. We had an absolutely fantastic day. We visited three wineries and each was very different which made for a very interesting day with a great variety of outstanding wines. Lunch was also fantastic with great food and wine. The best thing about the tour was our guide Luis - he gave us lots of information about the region, the wineries and the wine and was fantastic company throughout the day. We all really enjoyed the whole day.

My husband and I had the best time in the Rioja Alta and Alavesa wine regions with our guide Luis! We booked a group tour but no one else signed up so it ended up private. We were lucky to have Luis as our guide to make it an incredible day! The itinerary was perfect - we loved the drive through the mountains, farmland, and vineyards, and Luis kept us on track without over managing the day. All the wineries we went to were excellent and we didn’t feel awkward even though we are not educated wine drinkers. Also nothing felt overproduced as we were nervous about booking any tour initially - but certainly made the right choice with this one. Luis was incredibly knowledgeable about the region, wines, and anything and everything basque. He was also just fun to spend the day with and went above and beyond to make sure we had a great experience! We hope to be back again soon!! I should add - the lunch was excellent quality and will certainly be one of the highlights of our trip as well!

Rioja is at its best when experienced at a relaxed pace, meeting real people, visiting wineries with character and leaving room for spontaneous conversations along the way. We're also glad you felt comfortable even without a deep wine background. Great wine experiences shouldn't be reserved for experts, they should be enjoyable, welcoming and fun for everyone. We had the best day hanging with our guide Luis and learning about the Basque Country and Rioja wine region! He was incredibly knowledgeable about the region and the wines - and was super fun to chat with too. We could not have had a better experience. The 3 vineyards we visited were all unique with their own traditions and wines that gave us a great idea of what Rioja Wine Country is all about. We had an unbelievable lunch to cap off the trip too. Would recommend this tour with Luis for anyone interested in learning about Rioja Wine Country and how tightly it is connected to the Basque region as a whole.

We had the BEST day in Rioja thanks to our amazing tour guide, Louis! 🍷✨ He took us to two incredible wineries and a delicious lunch, and made the entire experience so special from start to finish. Not only was he unbelievably knowledgeable about wine, Spain, and the Basque Country, he was so genuine and sweet - truly an angel!! 💛 We learned so much, laughed nonstop, and felt completely taken care of the entire day. We had a perfect day in the most gorgeous panoramic wine country with Luis. He had a great vibe and did a great job answering my 21 questions about misc basque history. I was impressed with the wineries we visited they seemed like a very intentional curation. I love meeting people who are passionate about their craft and their communities. Lunch was exceptional. Laguardia was whimsical in way that must be experienced in person.

Luis: it was a great tour! Very informative and fun. Nice snacks with the tastings and very different wineries. Great lunch also! And note for future clients: the van was very comfortable and spacious. It was also fun to be with another couple that was so friendly and humored us old people!
Booked via third party for a small group tour. Turns out it became a private tour as my party was the only group that day. We spent a beautiful day with Luis and Malena. They were deeply knowledgeable and fun to spend the day with; it felt like traveling with two friends who happened to be experts. It was rainy on-and-off as the season dictates, but Luis's expert driving got us around safely and quickly. The wineries visited were fantastic and varied curations showcasing tradition, modernity, and everything in between. Not to mention fantastic wines! Each tasting leader from the wineries themselves were great too. The time spent in Laguardia was so cool. Amazing history in that town and a great view of the region. Lunch was delicious and a very special experience. Thank you Luis and Malena for showing us such an amazing time! We would love to visit with you again and bring our friends & family too!

This was an unforgettable experience and the best part of our time in Donostia / San Sebastián. The wine was excellent, with interesting hosts, excellent wines, and beautiful views. Our guide Olatz was also a highlight: extremely knowledgeable and extremely fun! Our whole group was blown away. If you only do one thing on your visit, make it this tour!
