Ci fermeremo a Riad zitoun el kdim per assaggiare il SEFANJ marocchino. Sfanj è pasticceria marocchina. Viene realizzato con impasto, sagomato ad anelli, e poi fritto in olio caldo fino ad assumere un colore dorato. I marocchini si abituano allo sfenj a partire dalla prima infanzia sia al mattino prima dell'inizio della scuola o nel tardo pomeriggio dopo la fine delle lezioni. Il delizioso cibo dolce viene servito caldo con una spolverata di zucchero, di solito con una tazza di tè alla menta, e si può trovare in quasi tutte le panetterie nelle strade marocchine o nei mercati tradizionali
Visiteremo un mercato delle olive. Ci fermeremo e assaggeremo tutti i tipi di olive e (harisa) harisa è un peperoncino piccante.
Dopo aver assaggiato le olive ci dirigeremo verso Derb Dabachi e assaggeremo il Mseman marocchino. I msemen sono frittelle marocchine piatte di forma quadrata, solitamente servite per la colazione o per l'ora del tè. Sono fatti appiattendo l'impasto rghaif su una superficie oliata fino a quando la carta si assottiglia, punteggiandolo con burro e semola, poi piegandolo in terzi (due volte) per formare un pancake a strati.
Dopo aver assaggiato Mseman cammineremo a Jemaa El fna e proveremo la Chebakia. La Chebakia è uno dei cibi marocchini più famosi ed è sicuramente un biscotto che chiunque provi adora. Il cibo dolce tradizionale si può trovare nelle case della maggior parte dei marocchini, soprattutto durante il mese di Ramadan, nei ristoranti e, naturalmente, nelle vivaci strade della medina del Marocco.
Lo zaalouk è un'insalata affumicata di melanzane e pomodori, condita con spezie e aglio. Viene spesso schiacciato a una consistenza simile a quella di un tuffo e cosparso di olio d'oliva. A testimonianza dell'abbondante produzione marocchina, Zaalouk celebra l'umile melanzana. Servito come contorno o antipasto, i suoi sapori affumicati e pungenti lo rendono un punto fermo nelle mezze marocchine. Il mechoui è un piatto tradizionale marocchino di agnello arrosto. L'agnello viene condito con una miscela di spezie, quindi tostato lentamente fino a quando non è tenero e cade dall'osso. La carne viene spesso consumata con le dita, rendendola un'esperienza culinaria comune. Mechoui è spesso riservato per occasioni speciali e grandi raduni. Il suo metodo di preparazione e di servizio, in cui l'agnello intero viene arrostito, mette in mostra la tradizione marocchina della cena e della celebrazione in comune.

We had a wonderful food tour with Mobarak! Our nine-year-old son who is an extremely picky eater absolutely loved the tour and even tried snails, which was his favorite part. We tried many street foods and local places which was just what we wanted. Highly recommend!

We had a great tour personalized to our likes and requests. The guide was very friendly and accommodating. He asked what type of foods we had already tried and what we wanted to try. He also made recommendations on what he thought we should eat. Enjoyed trying everything and would definitely recommend this experience. Great way to try a lot of local dishes from local merchants.

Definately one of the best nights we enjoyed. The directions to the meeting point were super and given it was our first night, we found Mbarek straight away. Being out of season there was only my Husband and myself on the Tour. Mbarek made us feel at ease immediately and then off we went. He took us around the whole Medina and areas that we probably would either not have found or perhaps not gone into not knowing the area. We sat and ate with locals at different venues and sampled traditional Moroccan cuisine with beautiful mint tea. MBarek explained a lot about the history of buildings, the culture and the different foods and spices. I will say, make sure you are hungry as everything was stunning but I felt I could not do the food justice as just too much, although my Husband gave it a very good go!! We really enjoyed everything we tried...even the fantastic snail stand in the Medina and the amazing 'half' sandwiches (which we had another three of during our stay). Unfortunately, I cannot load any photo's of the lovely dishes or Mbarek himself as my phone was stolen on the last day and I had not uploaded to the cloud, so pretty gutted about that. All of that aside, I would definately recommend this tour. For a first night, it also gives you all your bearings as the Medina can be a bit a maze for first timers, but after this night - we always knew where we were and how to get everywhere. Authentic Moroccan street food tour. Our guide spoke excellent English and was very informative on the foods plus any other questions we asked him about Marrakesh. We walked a good wide area, so got to see lots of the bustling city. Was nice to try the foods the locals eat. We was very full by the end of the tour!
