Itinerario
La nostra avventura inizia con una breve sosta in un'amata boutique di formaggi di quartiere. Gli scaffali sono rivestiti con più di 50 varietà artigianali, ognuna realizzata con cura e portando la propria storia. Sceglieremo una selezione appositamente curata da gustare più avanti: vale la pena di costruire anticipazioni per alcuni sapori.
La nostra tappa successiva ci porta in un bar contemporaneo celebrato per il suo team culinario giovane e inventivo. Qui, finalmente apriremo quella scatola degustazione di formaggi, abbinandola a un rinfrescante bicchiere di vino naturale. Dopodiché arriva uno dei pintxos caratteristici di San Sebastián: vivace, espressivo e inconfondibilmente basco, che fonde radici tradizionali con la creatività moderna.
In uno dei luoghi leggendari del pintxo della città, le graffette basche senza tempo ottengono una nuova prospettiva. Gli ingredienti familiari vengono trasformati attraverso una tecnica Esperta e colpi di scena fantasiosi. Appena fuori, le strette strade del centro storico sussurrano storie di pionieri gastronomici e generazioni di chef che hanno plasmato questa capitale culinaria.
Nascosto all’interno di una storica enoteca di oltre un secolo, ci fermiamo a sorseggiare il Patxaran, l’amato liquore regionale infuso con bacche di prugnola. Morbido, dolce e profondamente legato all'identità basca, soprattutto se abbinato a un delicato dolce locale. È un momento tranquillo e significativo, intriso di tradizione.
Questa sosta celebra l'essenza del sapore basco, riunendo il meglio dell'oceano e della campagna in un unico piatto. Fa parte di un progetto culinario premiato in cui la moderna artigianato pintxo incontra ingredienti locali di antica tradizione. Aspettatevi creazioni fantasiose radicate nella tradizione: innovative, espressive e inconfondibilmente basche.
Poi entriamo in un piccolo stabilimento guidato da donne che irradia calore. Noto per la sua cucina orientata al mercato e l'atmosfera amichevole, è il tipo di luogo nascosto che solo la gente del posto conosce tipicamente. Una volta dentro, il suo fascino rende difficile dire addio: un autentico spaccato della quotidiana ospitalità basca.
Il nostro viaggio si conclude in una pasticceria storica del centro storico, rinomata per la pantxineta : un classico dessert basco di pasta sfoglia croccante e crema pasticcera cremosa. Fresco di forno e incredibilmente indulgente, offre un finale deliziosamente locale alla nostra esperienza pintxo.

We sampled Basque cheese, wines, pintxos and desserts over 3 hours with our excellent guide Malena. Walked all over San Sebastián to 6 food places while Malena pointed out several other details about the city and Basque culture. We enjoyed a variety of seafood, egg, pork, beef and vegetarian pintxos, along with local wines, vermouth and cider. Malena was very mindful of our vegetarian/pescatarian friends’ food restrictions as well as our preferences of the type of pintxos. Overall a great experience.

San Sebastián did not disappoint. It’s a beautiful city, very walkable and the food options are outstanding. The Pinxtos are out of this world and there are so many options to try. Beef cheek, Pork ribs, Seafood and vegetarian dishes. The beach’s are immaculate and you can hire surf gear at reasonable rates. It’s worth taking the open top bus tour which you can hop on and off. And the Funicular destination is a must, the view from the top of the mountain is breathtaking. The city is also excellent value for money and the people are always friendly. We will definitely visit again.
We enjoyed every bit of this tour, and our host was knowledgeable and did everything in our power to make it so enjoyable. The highlight was the pulled pork sandwich!
Thoroughly recommend this tour. Martin was an excellent guide with great knowledge of the local food and culture. Doing it on our first night was perfect. It gave us confidence navigating pintxos bars, plus we got to try other regional specialities we wouldn’t have found on our own. A great mix of food, insight, and orientation - the ideal start to a visit in San Sebastián.
We completely agree that doing a food tour on the first evening in San Sebastián is one of the best ways to start a trip :) Once you understand the rhythm of the pintxos bars and the local food culture, the whole city opens up in a different way. Our guide Mattin was wonderful, friendly, close and very knowledgeable. He took us to places outside the tourist circuit, places that if you don't know them as local, you wouldn't discover. The best thing was that we tried pintxos made at the moment, none of the typical bar full of pintxos that look with the naked eye
I found it an exceptional tour. Both for the selection of venues visited and for the professionalism of Mattin and Lucia. I recommend it for all those who want to discover new places, beyond the classic pintxos tour done in the city.

Ernes was amazing! We tried many different pintxos and wines and had impromptu stops along the tour..We also learned all about San Sebastián and the Basque culture… A great way to spend 3 hours.. highly recommend!
From the moment the tour began, it was clear that this was not just about food but an immersive experience into the Basque culture, guided by experts with a true passion for their city's gastronomy. The selection of pintxos and wine pairings was exceptional. The guides were truly knowledgeable, not just about the food/wine but also about San Sebastian's history and culinary traditions. Perhaps the most exciting part was the discovery of hidden gems-places we might have walked past without a second glance. These places delivered some of the most amazing pintxos we had eaten. Overall, this tour is a MUST for food lovers! It strikes the perfect balance between a little history and indulgence, offering a deeper appreciation of Basque cuisine while treating us all to an unforgettable evening. Oh wait...did I forget to mention the final stop...a chocolate stop. Not just any chocolate...the best! This tour is highly recommended.
