I've worked in Edinburgh for years and must have driven past the Barnton Bunker a thousand times without ever realising what was hiding beneath the surface. Stepping inside felt like stepping back in time into a completely different, and honestly quite unsettling, world - in the best possible way. The tour was fascinating from start to finish. I loved learning about the bunker itself, the people who would have worked there, and the alternate reality we could have ended up in if it had ever needed to be used. Our guide, Logan, was excellent - clearly extremely knowledgeable, and delivered what must be an enormous amount of information without missing a beat. Highly recommend this to anyone in or visiting Edinburgh who wants to see a side of the city's history that's easy to walk right past without ever knowing it's there.
The young guide on Sunday 12n tour was very knowledgeable and clearly passionate about the bunker, it's history and it's future plans..very interesting . He spoke very fast so occasionally hard to.keep up with him. Wrap up warm. Money well spent.

Brilliant! It was amazing to see such an impressive time capsule of the UK government’s approach to nuclear safety and strategy for the population. The space is expansive, and it was incredible to hear about its history and the transformation of its uses through time. Can’t wait to re-visit in a few years and see how it changes throughout the ongoing restoration. Definitely worth seeing in its current state as it adds so much to understanding the history and character of the bunker. Highly recommend for visitors and locals alike!!

Very interesting tour, well worth a visit. The guide was very good and spoke passionately about the bunker and the story about it. Not suitable for buggies, wheelchairs and a fair few steps and uneven surfaces. The tours are new and restoration work are ongoing so I expect over time it will become more accessible. Funds from the tours are being used to help with the restoration so just by visiting you will be helping. There are toilets but still the very old facilities. There is a small car park just as you turn off the main road.
Favourite site in Edinburgh by far. Logan the tour guide was brilliant and engaging. Cannot wait to come back in the future to see the progress of the restoration.

The Barnton Bunker tour is a must if you’re visiting Edinburgh or live here! It’s wonderful to see how many passionate volunteers are working hard to restore the bunker. Logan our tour guide was great and his tour was very interesting! All of the ticket proceeds go directly into the restoration project. The tour is great value and definitely a must!
