Forte dell'inizio del sec. XVI, utilizzato per proteggere e combattere i corsari algerini e le truppe filippine nella metà del secolo. XVI e XVII. Ci offre una visione di parte del cono di cenere di quello che si ritiene sia stato il 2° vulcano che creò l'isola di Santa Maria, circa 8,7 milioni di anni fa
Qui potrete godere di uno dei panorami più belli e paradisiaci che l'isola ha da offrire. Una delle baie più belle del mondo
Deserto Rosso o Barreiro da Faneca, una vasta area con circa 8 ettari di cenere vulcanica che subì un processo di ossidazione circa 3,5 milioni di anni fa. Sembra di essere su Marte
Cooperativa di panificazione/pasticceria e artigianato che continua a valorizzare, attraverso l'arte dei suoi dipendenti, il patrimonio secolare della gente dell'isola attraverso il suo pane, i suoi spicchi e i suoi intrecci. Punto di sosta obbligatorio
In ricordo della sosta di Cristovão Colombo al Lugar dos Anjos nel 1493 dove celebrò la messa nella Cappella di N. Sra de Sant'Ana.

We came for the day from Ponta Delgada. Early arrival at 7 a.m. for a 9 a.m. tour start. But thanks to Miguel, our guide, that was not a problem because he met us at the airport and dropped us off in the city center for breakfast and a visit before the start of the tour. Miguel is an exceptionally kind guide and helped us discover Santa Maria in an exceptional way. We visited all the sites and he shared his passion for his island with us. Same accompaniment at the end of the day for a return to the airport at 8 p.m., well after the end of the tour. We recommend Smatur and especially Miguel. 👍

A day our family will never forget, thanks to our guide, Ricardo. He shared his love and knowledge of this beautiful island. He was incredibly kind with my elderly parents, ensuring their safety. My husband and I want to take a moment to acknowledge Miguel and our tour guide, Ricardo, who hosted us during our visit to Santa Maria, Azores. This trip was very personal for us! Our heritage and roots run deep on this beautiful island and Ricardo not only showed us all of the highlights on the island, he went above and beyond to also extend his time to make sure we saw all of the personal highlights such as family birth places and the resting places of our ancestors which allowed us to share it with our children and grandchildren. We had a full day tour with Miguel. He was excellent, making sure we saw absolutely everything there was to see and experiencing some of the wonders of tge island including walking barefoot on deep moss and swimming in the sea. Nothing was too much trouble. The day was full of humour and information. Very memorable.
