Il Centro di interpretazione ambientale Dalberto Pombo (CIADP) è stato il risultato della ricostruzione di un edificio all'inizio dell'area storica di Vila do Porto. Questo Centro ospita la tenuta del naturalista Dalberto Pombo, un pioniere nello studio della diversità geologica e biologica dell'isola e il suo obiettivo principale è quello di promuovere la conoscenza del patrimonio naturale, in modo dinamico e interattivo, con un carattere educativo e scientifico.
Barreiro da Faneca è una vasta area di terreno arido e argilloso, appartenente principalmente all'unità geologica chiamata "Formazione di Feteiras", che costituisce un paesaggio semi-desertico di colore giallo-rossastro, unico nelle Azzorre.
Nella sua parte a valle, il letto di Ribeira do Maloás, al posto di Malbusca, presenta una cascata in un vasto affioramento di colonne basaltiche alte 15-20 m e un'estensione di circa 220 m. Questa disgiunzione prismatica, o colonnare, è associata a un flusso di lava basaltica subaero proveniente dal complesso vulcanico del Pico Alto, i cui prismi, di notevoli dimensioni, sono troncati nella parte superiore rivelando un pavimento poligonale esagonale del tipo “Calçada de Gigantes”, una struttura vulcanica famoso in tutto il mondo dall'Irlanda.
È una delle cascate più grandi del Portogallo, alta cento metri. Alla base della cascata c'è un lago poco profondo e, su una delle rive, un posto dove è possibile fare un picnic.

We stayed at the bungalow in the campingsite for some days and all it was wonderful!!! Very clean and beautiful view at the sea!!! Marco so nice and ready to help with anything !!!

My father was born on Santa Maria, but he moved away over 50 years ago as a young boy so he didn’t remember his way around the island. Marco agreed to pick us up from the airport when we landed at 0700 and start the tour 2 hours early. The island is beautiful, and Marco’s love and passion for his home are evident throughout. A delicious lunch at a local restaurant was included in the price. Overall, it was terrific tour and the highlight of my families trip to Portugal. If it was possible to give the tour a higher rating than 5 stars I would. Thank you so much for an excellent day. I hope to come back in the future and book again with Paraiso Radical.
We do guided tours everywhere we go and most are exceptionally good but this was extra special exceptionally good. Marco made everything perfect. He is rightfully very proud of his island with all the history and details anyone could ever want. Yes, that is the job of a tour guide but you will find him to be exceptional. At the end of our Friday tour he came back to our hotel and said there was something he forgot to show us and came back in the morning to give us the free extended tour. If you want to rent a kayak, scooter or bicycle be is also your guy.

I had an amazing whirlwind day seeing every single inch of the island of Santa Maria! The tour culminated at Pico Alto rhe highest point of the island where i got an amazing perspective of the whole iland with stunning views! My guide was very personable, flexible and accommodating. I was delayed in arriving and he was gracious enough to change the date and even dropped me off at the airport because we didn't have time to ho back to the hotel. All in all a wonderful experience!
This was an amazing experience with a wonderful and fun guide. Marco was a local and well known on the island. He knew almost anything we could ask and was always willing to go wherever we wanted. Santa Maria is such a beautiful Island, literally ever turn was a post card. My husband and myself were so happy to be shown around with such hospitality despite knowing no Portuguese, we look forward to returning. PS he also dealt well with our 16 year old nephew.

It was a surprisingly positive experience!!!!5*!!! A kayak tour on the coast of São Lourenço, which is beautiful, we entered several beautiful caves and we were bathing on a beach, which only has access by the sea, with the right to a snack and everything!!!! Very friendly people!!! I highly recommend!!!
