We really enjoyed this tour! Charlotte is very passionate about the history and we learned so much. The physical walk was reasonable and the length of time for the tour was just right.
Charlotte led our tour, completely dressed as was customary in the 18th century. That alone was already very impressive! Then she entertained us for over two hours with inexhaustible and precise knowledge about the Jacobite era, surprising and exciting us! We heard so much from her that we could easily take the same tour again and still discover something new. An absolutely recommendable, impressive tour that was worth it all around!
We are a family with multiple age groups and Charlotte’s anecdotes of Edinburgh history kept everyone engaged throughout the tour. She kept it light while telling us about things that had happened hundreds of years ago!

Walk The Old Town specializes in smaller group tours which provides the visitor with a more intimate experience, seeing Edinburgh through the eyes of a local and going places you would ordinarily have missed were you in a larger group. Nothing wrong with larger groups, it's just that often in larger groups the quality of a tour may diminish due to the size, and navigation can get tricky. Great experience, Charlotte was lovely! We did a tour along The Royal Mile - Charlotte is truly passionate about its history and no question was left unanswered - left the tour with a deeper appreciation for the Old Town.

The guided tour with Scarlet was an enriching experience overall. Technically, she has impressive knowledge. However, the story occupied a rather dominant place at the beginning – we spent the first half hour giving a detailed talk in a single place. That was informative, but we would have liked a little more exercise. Later on, she told exciting, sometimes somewhat debauched, but very pictorial and vivid stories. You could tell she was passionate about this. The route took us to interesting and partly hidden places that we probably would not have discovered on our own.

Charlotte was very informative! She definitely know the history of Edinburgh. This is a “must-do” tour! Our guide was dressed the part, she was extremely knowledgeable, funny, and a great storyteller. It was over before we knew it because she kept us in rapt attention! It was a great tour and well worth the small fee of it!
