Getting around Tashkent can be challenging, as the central Metro is not as easy to use, although very cheap. The guide provided transportation to all of the points of interest, but after a brief description would state you have 10, 20 or 30 minutes on your own. As such, the service was more of a driver than truly a guide. English is difficult to understand as it is not a native language, but if you have a working understanding or knowledge of the country, you will enjoy your time.
Dear Lester, thank you for your feedback. I would like to clarify that since you had already independently visited many of Tashkent's main attractions the previous day, we had to adjust the itinerary on the spot to accommodate you. Regarding the free time, my goal is always to balance historical commentary with personal space, especially since you expressed a strong preference for taking photos rather than listening to the detailed explanations. We do our best to tailor the experience to every traveler's unique pace, and we appreciate your stay in Tashkent. About free times. Barakhan madrassah 10 minutes. In charsu bazaar near bread maret 5 min. I went to get cold water and to share with tourists. 5 minutes in Besh Kozon pilaf centre 10 minutes in Memorial complex. So I had to do lunch. As you are vegitarian and no desire to taste pilaf. 15 minutes in Broadway as I had to bring my car. As you visited many places, based on your requests I took you to the state museum, Temurids museum, in applied art museum. Which are not mentioned on the prpgram.
John our private tour guide was prompt at picking us up and communicated with us prior to the start of our trip. He was very helpful in guiding my wife to a wholesaler for her purchase of a wool kulyak(traditional uzbek women tunic) at the bazaar - very good quality at a very cheap prize. He drove and accompanied us around for the other attractions including trying Taskent plov with horse meat. The Taskent metro stations are a must see as they are different.
We visited Tashkent from the UK in December 2025. Prior to arriving we made arrangement with John to pick us up from the airport, do the tour and drop us back. On the day, John was unwell and couldn't make it. But he arranged a substitute who was entirely satisfactory. Nice chap. Met us at the airport, drove us around, took us to whatever we wanted to see and then dropped us back for our outbound flight when we paid (at the end of the trip) in cash. Though we didn't get to meet John, I feel this review is appropriate as it was booked through him and he took care of the arrangements. So, yes, I'd recommend you use his service if you're planning on visiting Tashkent.
Excellent afternoon with John. Great insights into the city and history of the country. Bonus was he took great photos for us and sent them with a fantastic video. This created a great memory. Highly recommend.
Thank you for amazing reviews. I will ask from God to give you good luck from all sides.
Was quite knowledgable. We covered what we could from 130 pm to 615 pm or so post lunch. Took a short break for snacks and coffee. Saw the e metro stations. A famous mosque complex , gardens, statues and drove around. We declined a visit to the Chorsu market as we were out of time. Took me to our ex Prime Minister Shri Lal Bahadur Shastri street and we saw his bust that was placed in the corner there. Overall a satisfactory view experience .

I had the pleasure of taking a Private Tashkent City & Food Tour with Juraev, and it was truly one of the highlights of my trip. From the very beginning, he made me feel welcome with his friendly and genuine personality. Juraev is incredibly knowledgeable about Tashkent’s history, culture, and daily life, and he shared his insights in a way that was both engaging and easy to connect with. His passion for the city really brought each place we visited to life. What I appreciated most was his thoughtfulness and attention to detail, he tailored the experience to my interests and made sure everything flowed smoothly throughout the day. The food stops were wonderful, and thanks to Juraev I got to try authentic local dishes I wouldn’t have discovered on my own. His care in explaining the traditions behind the cuisine made the experience even more special. Above all, his warmth and kindness made the tour feel less like a formal excursion and more like spending a day with a good friend who loves sharing his city. I can’t recommend Juraev highly enough, this was an unforgettable experience!
