Unisciti al nostro tour a piedi per piccoli gruppi e visita Edimburgo in un giorno. Old Town, Castello di Edimburgo, New Town, la National Gallery of Scotland e l'interno di una casa museo storica. Imparerai la storia, la cultura e il patrimonio della capitale scozzese e ci sarà una pausa per il pranzo.

Itinerario
Il nostro tour inizierà nel West End di Edimburgo, dove presenteremo la città e i suoi quartieri. A Charlotte Square, ammireremo eleganti esempi di architettura neoclassica e capiremo perché Edimburgo è conosciuta come l'"Atene del Nord"
In Charlotte Square parleremo della dimora più iconica della New Town, la Georgian House. Capiremo come apparivano le case a schiera georgiane e com'era la vita dell'alta società nell'Edimburgo del XVIII e XIX secolo.
Princes Street Gardens è uno dei principali parchi di Edimburgo e lo attraverseremo da est a ovest. Ci fermeremo ad ammirare la Fontana di Ross e altri esempi di arte pubblica. Dai giardini godrai anche di una splendida vista sul castello e sulla roccia del castello.
Nella Galleria Nazionale Scozzese scopriremo le opere d'arte di alcuni degli artisti più famosi della Scozia, tra cui Sir Henry Raeburn, Alexander Nasmyth e i Glasgow Boys.
Cammineremo verso il Royal Mile dove ci fermeremo per il pranzo. Questa zona è rinomata per i suoi pub e ristoranti e avrai l'opportunità di provare del delizioso cibo scozzese.
Dopo pranzo cammineremo lungo il Royal Mile dove vedremo la Mercat Cross. Un tempo questo veniva utilizzato per annunci pubblici e punizioni pubbliche. Spiegheremo anche perché l'unicorno appare in cima a questa struttura.
Di fronte al Mercat Cross vedremo la Cattedrale di St. Giles. Parleremo dell'architettura della chiesa più importante della Scozia e scopriremo la storia della religione presbiteriana. Cammineremo anche fino a West Parliament Square per parlare dell'Atto di Unione.
Dall'altro lato di St. Giles vedremo il Cuore di Midlothian, un punto di riferimento che segna il punto in cui un tempo sorgeva l'Old Tolbooth.
Lasciandoci alle spalle St. Giles, passeggeremo lungo il Royal Mile. Qui scopriremo cosa erano e come venivano utilizzate le sue stradine acciottolate medievali, chiamate closed. Ci sarà anche l’occasione per parlare della scena culturale della città, compresi i suoi festival.
Cammineremo lungo il ponte Giorgio IV. È tempo di incontrare il cane più famoso e fedele di Edimburgo, Bobby! Vedremo anche la statua del cane situata appena fuori dal cimitero.
Dietro Bobby troveremo l'ingresso di Greyfriars Kirkyard. In questo cimitero storico capiremo cosa sono i Mortsafe e conosceremo la connessione tra gli Scottish Covenants e il Mausoleo di George Mackenzie.
Dopo il cimitero troveremo il Grassmarket, famoso per i suoi pub e il suo passato oscuro.
Dal cimitero cammineremo fino a Grassmarket, una zona famosa per i suoi pub e il suo passato oscuro. Dal Grassmarket percorreremo Victoria Street, la strada più pittoresca e colorata di Edimburgo.
Tornando al Royal Mile, troveremo la Makars' Court. Qui, con il Museo degli Scrittori come sfondo, parleremo degli scrittori scozzesi più importanti, tra cui Robert Burns, Sir Walter Scott e Robert Louis Stevenson.
Dopo aver lasciato la Corte di Makars, cammineremo per alcuni minuti lungo la parte superiore del Royal Mile fino a raggiungere la Castle Esplanade. Prima di entrare nel castello, godremo di una vista mozzafiato sulla città e vedremo dove si svolge l'Edinburgh Military Tattoo.
È finalmente giunto il momento di entrare nel Castello di Edimburgo. Una volta all'interno, approfondiremo la storia e i segreti di questo edificio e ricorderemo le affascinanti storie di re, regine, battaglie e assedi. Dopo la visita guidata avrai l'opportunità di esplorare le aree interne del castello al tuo ritmo.

We had a fantastic tour with Ricky! He provided interesting commentary and stories throughout the day as he showed us many of the Edinburgh sights. Be advised it is a full day of walking and standing, so be well rested and ready for a tiring day. Our tour ran about 6 hours, but it was well worth the time as a very comprehensive tour of the city. We had time to find a quick lunch on our own near the National Galleries. At the end of the tour, we had plenty of time to finish exploring the Edinburgh Castle on our own.

The guided tour of Edinburgh was amazing, thanks to our guide Ben. In a group of 10 people from all over the world, he spoke very clearly so that we, the non-native speakers, understood him perfectly. When we lost our group shortly after the start of the tour, he immediately came looking for us so that we could rejoin the group. Ben gave us a lot of information about the history of Scotland and Edinburgh. He encouraged us to ask him everything we were interested in and his answers were comprehensive, interesting, and he often made us laugh. We also saw some places that we would have probably missed in our limited time in Edinburgh. Thank you very much for the pleasant experience and best regards from Slovenia! PS: We managed to conquer Ben Nevis in beautiful sunny weather...

This was a great tour as our first day in Edinburgh, as a fact-filled orientation to the city and its rich history which was great context for the remainder of our trip. Zenon our guide was incredibly knowledgeable about sites on the tour and Edinburgh history along the way. He also had helpful suggestions for other things to do/see in/near Edinburgh. The small group size was a really nice way to experience a guided tour.
This was a great tour! Very informative. Guide was exceptional! Not recommended for groups coming from Norwegian Cruise line ports - not enough time to finish the tour, we had to miss the castle (entirely the fault of Norwegian, not our guide or Viator).
Zenon was a fantastic guide for our day in Edinburgh. He was extremely knowledgeable and very helpful in making recommendations throughout the tour. We were really impressed with his knowledge of the city and Scotland in general. The tour of Edinburgh Castle was the highlight of the day. Overall, this tour was a great introduction to the city and an excellent overview of its highlights.

We had a fantastic full day walking tour yesterday with Zenon! He was very clear and articulate with his explanations of the history and city of Edinburgh. He was patient and answered many questions. He was extremely knowledgeable and gave good recommendations of places to eat and activities. We had a great day and would highly recommend Zenon and this full day tour. Definitely take the tour you won’t regret it!
