La nostra avventura a Glenfinnan, Glencoe e Fort William inizia nel cuore del centro di Edimburgo, al nostro punto di partenza nel centro della città. Partendo dalle vivaci strade di Edimburgo, passando davanti ad alcuni dei suoi luoghi più iconici come il Castello di Edimburgo mentre esci, e inizia il tuo viaggio verso nord nelle aspre Highlands scozzesi. Ci fermiamo per un rinfresco a Callander, la porta delle Highlands
Viaggeremo attraverso il Parco Nazionale di Trossachs sulla strada per Glencoe.
La nostra prossima tappa è Glencoe! Il noto e drammatico Glen compare in molti film, come Skyfall di James Bonds, e fa da sfondo ad alcune scene di Harry Potter e il prigioniero di Azkaban, perfette per farvi venire voglia di visitare il famoso "Ponte di Harry Potter" che vedrete più avanti nel tour. Ci fermiamo qui per le foto e per conoscere tutto sulla storia di Glencoe, compreso il massacro del clan MacDonald nel 1692.
Dalla suggestiva Glencoe, viaggiamo ancora lungo le rive del Loch Linnhe fino alla città delle Highland di Fort William, che si trova ai piedi della montagna più alta della Gran Bretagna - il Ben Nevis. Ci fermiamo qui per permetterti di sgranchirti le gambe e fare una pausa pranzo anticipata, prima di proseguire verso il viadotto Glenfinnan.
Tempo permettendo, ci fermeremo per le foto alla Scalinata di Nettuno. La serratura della scala comprende otto chiuse sul canale caledoniano e solleva il canale di 19 m (62 piedi). È stato costruito all'inizio del 1800 ed è la più lunga serratura a scale in Gran Bretagna.
Il viadotto Glenfinnan è stato probabilmente reso più famoso dalle sue scene di Harry Potter ed è circondato da montagne sulle splendide rive del Loch Shiel. Non solo questa località è famosa per il treno a vapore giacobita (da non confondere con l'Hogwarts' Express), Loch Sheil era la posizione del "Black Lake". Vedi se riesci a individuare un "grindylow" che causa problemi sotto la superficie! È anche l'ambientazione del bellissimo volo di Buckbeak, scene del Torneo dei Maghi, e anche lo splendido lago su cui siede Hogwarts. Ammiriamo il viadotto e un'opportunità fotografica prima di una visita al vicino Glenfinnan Monument, che simboleggia uno degli eventi più importanti della storia scozzese; la rivolta giacobita del 1745. Nota: il treno a vapore giacobita è gestito da un'altra compagnia. Non possiamo sempre garantire che il tour e il treno si incontreranno contemporaneamente.
Partendo da Glenfinnan, iniziamo il nostro viaggio di ritorno a Edimburgo, passando per lo spettacolare Parco Nazionale di Cairngorms, fermandoci lungo il percorso per un rinfresco al piccolo villaggio di Pitlochry*. Godetevi il tempo per sgranchirvi le gambe e mangiare un boccone veloce prima di tornare a Edimburgo dove si concluderà la nostra avventura a Glenfinnan, Glencoe e Fort William. *Durante i mesi di punta l'itinerario può essere percorso in senso inverso per evitare congestioni alle attrazioni e punti di ristoro. Quando si corre in retromarcia passeremo attraverso Pitlochry ma ci fermeremo in un luogo alternativo per un rinfresco.

It was a beautiful day and our guide “Holly” was amazing… she not only gave us a well guided tour but was also patient n a perfect guide she made the every place come to life
I want to give a huge shoutout to our guide, Karis. She was incredibly friendly and an impressive multitasker, providing a massive amount of great information and commentary while driving the bus. Unfortunately, because the day was so long, I fell asleep for large portions of the drive and missed a lot of what she said, but she worked very hard! The Tour Reality (Approximate Timings): The Journey: Around 12 hours spent mostly sitting on a coach bus. The Stops: A brief 30-minute breakfast stop where we could only spot about 4 Highland cows ("hairy coos") way off in the distance, followed by a fleeting 15-minute glimpse of the mountains. Lunch & Breaks: We had a little over an hour in a small town for lunch. Later, there was a short 30-minute bathroom break, but be warned that the restrooms aren't free—expect to pay around 50p per person. The Main Event (Glenfinnan Viaduct): This was the biggest disappointment due to the tight schedule. We were only given about an hour here. Arriving around 2:30 PM, we waited until roughly 3:10 PM for the train to pass. Because we were warned that the bus would leave promptly at 3:20 PM and we'd be left behind, there was absolutely no time to walk up to the better, more scenic viewpoints. We had to stay glued to the crowded, closest viewpoint right by the car park just to make sure we didn't miss the bus.
Alistair was a brilliant tour guide, full of information and stories. I commend him highly on his safe driving in the tightest of corners and narrow roads. He was very patient when one tourist continually took off her seatbelt, and one time when she just took off up the isle. This woman was sitting next to me and continually talked over the top of Alister when he was giving his commentary and he smiled in the mirror when I told them how rude they were. Despite this, I thoroughly enjoyed the day and highly recommend the tour.

We had a lovely tour to the Highlands. Scott was an amazingly enteraining guide who had a lot of fun facts about different locations. He made us laugh all day long and really made the trip memorable. The sights were amazing - even though the weather was quite rainy and cloudy.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Scott the Scottish Scot was an incredible driver and guide! He was hilarious, engaging, and made the entire 12-hour tour fly by. We learned so much about the Scottish Highlands, but it never felt like a history lesson because he made everything so entertaining. He was an excellent and safe driver, kept us perfectly on schedule, and thanks to his timing, we got to see the Jacobite Steam Train at Glenfinnan, yay! It was one of the highlights of our trip. If you get Scott as your guide on a Timberbush Tour, you’re in for an amazing day. Highly recommend!
As a huge Harry Potter fan, the main reason I booked this tour was to see the Hogwarts Express crossing the Glenfinnan Viaduct. Thankfully, I did get to see the train, and I’m very grateful for that. I do have one suggestion that I think would make this tour even better for Harry Potter fans. The company already offers another itinerary that is almost identical, with the main difference being that it visits Loch Ness instead of the Glenfinnan Viaduct. Since the two tours are otherwise very similar, it would make sense to make them more distinctive. Replacing one of the repeated scenic stops with a short visit to Dumbledore’s grave on Eilean na Moine would make this Harry Potter tour feel much more unique. The island is only about a 15-minute drive from the viaduct, so it seems like a natural addition to the itinerary. It was disappointing to be so close and not have the opportunity to stop there, especially since this tour is the one most likely to attract Harry Potter fans. I believe this small change would make the experience much more memorable and would add real value for future visitors. Overall, I’m happy that I saw the Hogwarts Express, but I believe this small change would significantly improve the experience for future Harry Potter fans.
We had a pleasant trip and saw the sights from Harry Potter, which was very exciting. We were abit annoyed by the lack of food at the top of the gondola café, but we got free soup!
We had a wonderful experience. Our driver Alistair was very nice and funny and he gave us a very good time! He told us so many interesting things about the highlands. A big thank you to him!! We could see all we wanted and we had so much fun! We would recommend the tour! Sometimes the sitting time in the bus was a little bit long, but we sleeped trough the longer rides.
