La seconda attrazione turistica più popolare della Scozia mentre scopri la storia sanguinosa, comprese le storie dei re e delle regine che vissero in questo castello. Ci sono prove di un forte qui per quasi 3000 anni, ed è stato un castello reale almeno dal regno di re Davide I nel 12° secolo. I monarchi scozzesi continuarono ad utilizzarlo fino al 1633, e videro addirittura la nascita del re Giacomo VI tra le sue mura. Il tuo tour inizierà sul Royal Mile, per poi portarti al castello, dove ascolterai la guida parlare delle origini del castello e dei suoi assedi. Una volta all'interno delle mura del castello, la guida ti condurrà attraverso le diverse parti della fortezza e ti racconterà la sua affascinante storia. All'interno del complesso troverai tre musei, due prigioni, un cimitero canino, la Cappella di Santa Margherita, il Monumento Nazionale ai caduti di Scozia, la Sala Grande e un Palazzo Reale. Although the views and architecture are stunning, the experience inside the castle was dull and disappointing. Other castles have much better experiences with rooms set up to show how the people lived or occupied them. This castle was kind of a joke with most displays just being paintings or photos you could see online. Also, the huge line to see the Crown Jewels was such a disappointment and waste of time. Skip this experience. There are so many better ways to spend your time and money.
I had an amazing 1.5 hours. Meeting point was centrally located, they had provided a picture of the place so there was no confusion at all. The tour started on time, our guide Gavin was seriously amazing. Told us lot of history and facts, politely answered all questions and took us through the castle. Would definitely recommend!
We followed our guide Gavin for a really interesting tour through the castle. He knew an answer to all of our questions and the hour-long tour flew by in a blink of the eye. Thanks for your enthusiasm and knowledge Gavin! We did take the explorer card for Scottish castles though, which is probably cheaper than the single entrance if you visit enough castles.

We had a fantastic guided tour of Edinburgh Castle and would highly recommend it! Our guide was knowledgeable and had a wonderful way of explaining the significance of different areas while keeping the tour engaging and enjoyable. Even though the castle was very busy, she paced the tour perfectly so we never felt rushed or overwhelmed. She also knew exactly where to stop for the best photo opportunities and made sure we were in a great spot to watch the Changing of the Guard, which was a highlight of our visit. This tour made our visit to Edinburgh Castle so much richer than if we had explored on our own. If you're visiting Edinburgh, this guided tour is well worth it!
This was an action packed, TONS of walking/stairs, most amazing tour ever!!! So informative and interesting history of not only the castle but of Edinburgh and Scotland. Would highly recommend it! One thing though- our 88 year old father who is in great health was worn out by the number of stairs. The biggest highlight other than the one o'clock cannon and Crown Jewels? GLEN!! Our tour guide was phenomenal, he was witty, patient with our father and super knowledgeable!!! He made the tour extra special!!
