One of the worst airport I’ve ever used. Totally disorganised and quite frankly chaotic. Several rounds of security checks for no apparent reason and also bought a USB to USB C charger lead. When I got through security and tried using it the USB C end was very loose and it wouldn’t charge at all. Of course there’s now no way of getting a refund. I’ll avoid this airport in the future at all costs and would advise others do the same. Dreadful experience.
Extremely Disappointing Experience From start to finish, this trip was a failure on multiple levels. Signage was poor, customer service unhelpful, and support nearly non-existent. About half the airport staff were competent; the rest seemed untrained and indifferent. Our journey from Kigali to Addis Ababa confirmed this is not an airline worth choosing—no matter the ticket price. Delays were frequent and unexplained. Overbooking and scheduling issues were handled with no regard for passengers. We missed our connecting flight and were sent to a substandard hotel that appeared to have a business arrangement with the airline—a glorified hostel with a limited menu and no real choice. The most concerning issue was that my health-related meal request was completely ignored, resulting in 17 hours of severe discomfort on the return flight. This neglect will now cause me to miss work to recover. Overall, the lack of accountability, poor planning, and disregard for passenger well-being make it clear: I will never fly with this airline again. I can't risk my life like this again 😪. It is also troubling that I was told that my luggage would arrive on the flight that was scheduled, but I wasn't allowed on. Currently, I am waiting 4 hours for any help at my final destination. Is this how the CEO and shareholders want the customers to be treated. Just now my wife's bag was found, but mined with my cash, pills, souvenirs lost stolen? Please proceed with caution if this is your Airline of choice! Pride of Africa? Really
I was pleasemntly surprised by the amazing transformation of Bole international airport. Two years a go I had the worst experience at this airport and decided not to set a foot again. I dreaded both my arrival and departure experinces from this airport, the long queue, the dreadful porters, slow moving security lines and overcrowded seating, everything about this airport was awful. However, I think after a lot of complaints from customers and sole searching from airport management the airport has turned the corner and it’s a transformation worth celebrating. The first thing I noticed when I arrived there in January was the modernised terminal that opened up the space and made it more brighter and intuitive. The security process, which used to feel like a nightmare, is now efficient, staff are very professional, engaged and helpful. The biggest improvement for me was significantly reducing the number of porters who used to be a nuisance in the arrival area and the causes for the losses as well as damages of bags. Kudos to the people who are leading this transformation, the airport staff is attentive and genuinely friendly, which was a rare occurrence two years ago. Don’t get me wrong, there is still a lot of room for improvement to reach the full potential of this airport. Although, there number is less than it used to be, the dreadful porters are still creating havoc in the departure area. However, the airport has listened to its customers and invested significantly in making travel smoother and more enjoyable. It took me 40 minutes to clear security, collect my bag, clear customs and leave the airport. It took me more than 2 hours and one less bag when I left the airport two years ago. This airport has gone from being a hassle to one of the most convenient airports in the region. Opening the customer complaint offices is a good improvement, but it needs to be staffed at all times or provide other means such as email, QR code or phone numbers for customers to contact staff when it is not manned. Overall a great improvement. Keep up the good work.
I had a horrible experience with Ethiopian Airlines due to their complete negligence in handling my missing baggage. It has been [X] days, and my luggage is still missing, with no real updates or solutions from their customer service team. I have repeatedly contacted Ethiopian Airlines, but all I receive are false promises, generic responses, and zero accountability. The airline has shown no urgency or concern for how this issue has impacted me. I have had to spend extra money on essential items, yet they refuse to offer reasonable compensation. Their customer service is terrible, unhelpful, and unresponsive. It feels like once they take your money, they no longer care about their passengers. This is by far the worst airline experience I have ever had, and I strongly warn other travelers to avoid Ethiopian Airlines unless they want to risk losing their baggage and getting no support. I demand immediate action to resolve this issue. If nothing is done, I will escalate my complaint to aviation authorities and share my experience on every platform possible. Travelers, beware!
I recently had the pleasure of experiencing the Addis Ababa tour offered by Keba Guesthouse, and I must say it was a remarkable adventure.
Tour was excellent. Guide (Dech) was friendly and knowledgeable.Didn't rush. Review for him is five star. We had already been to the national museum and skipped that part. I took one star away for Tripadvisor . It should have mentioned that entry into Unity park is another US$20 per person. I think that this tour should put higher on the list of activities to do in Addis
