La Cattedrale della Santissima Trinità, conosciuta anche in amarico come Kidist Selassie, è la cattedrale etiope ortodossa di Tewahedo di rango più alto ad Addis Abeba, in Etiopia. Fu costruito nel 1942 per commemorare la vittoria etiope sull'occupazione italiana ed è un importante luogo di culto in Etiopia. All'interno della cattedrale si trovano le tombe dell'imperatore Haile Selassie e dell'imperatrice Menen Asfaw, nonché di altri membri della famiglia imperiale.
Situato in zona Piazza, Tomoca è il più antico coffee shop in Etiopia (dal 1953). La cerimonia tradizionale del caffè etiope è uno dei rituali culturali più iconici e amati in Etiopia.
Mercato è il più grande mercato a cielo aperto in Africa, coprendo diverse miglia quadrate e impiegando circa 13.000 persone in 7.100 entità commerciali suddivise in zone organizzate (prodotti agricoli, incensi, caffè, spezie, gioielli, riciclaggio, cesti, ceramiche, pelletteria, metalli)
Pranzo nell'albergo più antico di Addis. L'Hotel Taitu fu costruito nel 1905 (1898 nel calendario etiope) nel centro della città (Piazza), da Taitu Betul (1851–1918), l'imperatrice etiope e moglie dell'imperatore Menelik II, per offrire un posto agli ospiti stranieri per riposare e cenare. Sono possibili posti alternativi per il pranzo. Il pranzo non è incluso nel prezzo del tour.
Il museo è diviso in tre sezioni. Nei sotterranei, la mostra paleontologica custodisce molti preziosi reperti archeologici locali come i resti fossili dei primi ominidi, il più famoso dei quali è "Lucy". La collezione è classificata tra le più importanti dell'Africa subsahariana. Al piano terra sono esposti reperti di epoca aksumita, pre-aksumita, salomonica e gonderiana. Al primo piano, c'è una vivida esposizione di arte etiope che va dalla pergamena dell'inizio del XIV secolo fino alla pittura a olio su tela del XX secolo.
Il Museo Etnologico è un'istituzione pubblica dedicata all'etnologia e alla cultura. Situato all'interno dell'ex palazzo di Haile Selassie e circondato dagli splendidi giardini e dalle fontane del campus principale dell'università, il Museo Etnologico ospita oggetti antropologici, musicologici e culturali.
Situato a 3400 metri di altitudine, il parco naturale di Entoto era dove si trovava il campo e il palazzo permanente dell'ex imperatore Minilik II. Dall'alto si gode di una vista panoramica sulla capitale e sulla campagna circostante. La montagna è densamente ricoperta da alberi di eucalipto importati dall'Australia durante il regno di Menelik II, e per lo più piantati durante il regno dell'imperatore Haile Selassie. Così, a volte è indicato come il "polmone di Addis Abeba".
Il mercato di Shiro Meda (scritto anche "Chiromeda") vende tessuti etiopi in tutte le loro forme, dagli abiti da sposa etiopi a vari tipi di abbigliamento, biancheria e tessuti.

Addis is rich in history and culture. It's right there in the open but without an experienced, seasoned and knowledgeable guide, it will be difficult to unearth this rich culture. I travelled with my wife for our honeymoon break, and they treated us like we are a whole group tour. Alex made is easy for us to learn more about the history and culture of Addis and Ethiopia, while making it fun. The itinerary was well thought out, he provided pickup from our hotel, paid for all the admission fees and talked us though the history of the city and country for 7 hrs. The lunch break at the Ethiopia cultural restaurant was a lesson in itself where we enjoyed the Ethiopian coffee ceremony. For groups big and small I would highly recommend Addis Authentic Tours for the private city tour. Great experience and great value for money.

A fantastic, comprehensive, and educational full day tour of Addis!! Alex as a guide was so great - shared so much history (social, political, religious, cultural), was very communicative and organized, and was very invested in getting the absolute most out of the day. I liked that he provided options at many points so I could have some say over what we did and where we went. I like to really try to see it all & to get the most out of a tour and Alex was very accommodating of that. The driver Addis was also fantastic - very safe and kind. Our schedule was: - Entoto St Maryam Church / Minilk II Museum / Old Palace - Merkato - lunch at Addis Ababa Nyaderasa Restaurant - Ensira Pottery - Ethnological Museum on Addis Ababa University campus - National Museum of Ethiopia It was an awesome & jam packed day. I highly recommend choosing the lunch restaurant we went to because it's a beautiful old traditional home with delicious local food and a traditional coffee ceremony. You pay for lunch, but everything else is covered, including water and coffee. Ensira Pottery was amazing to witness the level of handmade production by so many women & very fun to buy little handmade clay guinea fowl figurines as souvenirs. Seeing Lucy and all the other just as old or older skeletons is a must! Merkato is really something to witness. I really enjoyed how Alex took my up on a balcony so we could spend time just taking it all in from above. He was also great about helping me try spices and assisting in purchasing some!

Great experience—both the guide and the driver were fantastic. The guide Desale was easy to communicate and coordinate with over WhatsApp and on time for pickup. He was friendly and knowledgeable, and went out of his way to be helpful and take photos. Absolutely loved this team, from the company to the individual guide. As a solo female traveler, 10/10 experience, very safe. Would book him again!
