Luogo di sepoltura di S.Chiara conserva il Crocefisso di San Damiano che ha parlato a San Francesco. Anche nei giorni di calca affascina per la sua semplicità e il misticismo che emana.
Luogo del Battesimo di San Francesco nonchè una delle chiese romaniche più affascinanti dell'Umbria. La sua facciata è un libro ancora da interpretare per la quantità e qualità delle figure fantastiche che la ornano!
Costruita nel '600 e quindi "nuova", conserva al suo interno i resti della presunta casa natale di San Francesco, appartenuta al padre Pietro Bernardone.
Il "salotto" della città mostra i resti dell'antico Tempio di Minerva, ora chiesa di S.Maria sopra Minerva, e i palazzi del libero comune medievale: palazzo dei Priori, del Capitano del popolo
La biografia ufficiale di San Francesco dipinta da Giotto e bottega si legge come un libro aperto attraverso cui conoscere la vita e le opere del Santo che ha "rifondato" la Chiesa medievale. Uno dei capolavori assoluti dell'arte di ogni tempo e patrmonio Unesco come tutta la città di Assisi.
La bellezza come specchio dell'anima che qui riposa il suo sguardo sulle opere di Cimabue, Simone Martini, i Lorenzetti e Giotto che ci parlano del rapporto tra San Francesco e Cristo.

We had Monia M for our guide of Assissi. She is clear, kind, and flexible. My mother has limits on how much she can walk at a time and she expertly helped adapt to having a wheelchair and driver along. We learned a lot, saw a lot and especially enjoyed the church of St Francis. Thank you Monia.
