We booked an expensive private tour with Motorland Tours to visit Ferrari, Lamborghini, a Parmigiano Reggiano producer, a traditional balsamic vinegar producer, and a winery. The itinerary itself was outstanding, and the destinations were absolutely worth visiting. Unfortunately, our experience with the driver did not match the quality of the tour itself. From the beginning, after looking at our itinerary, he commented that it was “a really long day.” Although we understood that English was limited and tried communicating with Google Translate, we spent the rest of the day feeling as though he simply wanted the tour to end as quickly as possible. As this was a private tour, we expected a more personalized experience. Instead, we were generally dropped off at each location with little or no guidance and left to figure things out on our own. We met another Motorland Tours group whose driver walked them into each attraction, made sure they had their tickets, and explained what to expect. That was much closer to the level of service we had anticipated. The most disappointing part was feeling rushed through what were once-in-a-lifetime experiences. We were encouraged to leave the balsamic vinegar tour before we had finished enjoying it, arrived at the Ferrari Museum about 30 minutes early, and reached the winery more than an hour before our scheduled tasting. There was simply no reason to hurry. I even skipped several wine tastings because it seemed clear our driver wanted to finish the day early. We ended up back at our hotel almost two hours ahead of the scheduled return time. The drive back to Bologna was also concerning. The driver was speeding on smaller roads and making aggressive passes that left us feeling uncomfortable. That said, the stops themselves were exceptional. The Parmigiano Reggiano and balsamic vinegar tours were fascinating, the hosts were knowledgeable and welcoming, and the tastings were outstanding. The Ferrari and Lamborghini museums were excellent, and the winery was beautiful. We learned so much and genuinely enjoyed each destination. This could easily have been a five-star experience because the itinerary and destinations were excellent. Instead, the driver’s attitude and the feeling of being rushed throughout the day significantly detracted from what should have been a relaxed, enjoyable private tour. I hope Motorland Tours takes this feedback to heart because they have created an outstanding tour, and future guests deserve a level of service that matches the quality of the experience.
This was such an amazing experience! We were so glad that we took this tour. Our driver was Vita, and she was so amazing!! We were more than able to discuss with her, and she was able to share points about the area when driving from point to point. She even stopped to pick up cherries from the roadside stand (which I love). The parmesan factory and farm were very informative. Its so amazing to see the products that we use every day and how they are made. After a tasting, we went to the winery/museum. There again, there is so much to see about the production and also about motorcars (naturally as a sponsor for Ferrari F1), and the lambrusco was amazing and very reasonable prices. The balsamic tour and light lunch were great and amazing to see how they store it. The Ferrari museum was a nice final stop, and it was nice to get back in the AC car and be driven back to Bologna. We never would have driven to all of these places on our own. It was a great tour, VIP service, and we would definitely recommend it when in Bologna and want to experience the area. It was worth the price!!!
The day was fabulous. Our driver was delightful, the cars were cool and learning about the production of vinegar, cheese and wine from the best in the world was extraordinary.
It was a lot in one day but, my wife and I had a very nice time on this tour. The farm/parmigiano was great, interesting, informative and delicious. The winery was almost a museum of wine production and the Lambrusco wasn't bad either :) Very interesting to learn the production of balsamic vinegar and taste the 25year old product. We ended with tours of the Lamborghini and Ferrari museums which were super cool to see the cars through the years and learn more about the brand origins. Though our driver Giuseppe spoke little English we were still able to communicate through google translate and he was able to give us some background on the Modena region. He was an excellent driver too, which is a concern for us because my wife and I often experience motion sickness in the back of cars. We spent 9 hrs with Giuseppe and never got nauseous. Overall it was a well planned out and professionally run tour. I would recommend them to other tourist that are interested in touring the Modena region
All if it! We saw so much on this incredible tour. Great driver, car factories were excellent , and we loved the cheese and balsamic tours ! Well worth the cost
The day gave use a variety of experiences. The whole day was well timed with adequate time at each stop to enjoy the tastings and museum's. Our driver Giuseppe was both informative and helpful
We are glad that you've enjoyed the tour! Thanks for your review!
The visit to the balsamic, cheese and wine providers was terrific. The Ferrari and lambo museums are underwhelming. The driver was not good at all. He didn’t speak English, spoke loudly on outside through the car speakers while driving and was generally surly. He cut the tour short as it seemed he had somewhere else he wanted to be.
Good morning, thanks for your review. We always appreciate it even if it's not so good! About the driver, we are sorry for car calls; it generally doesn't happen...if so, it means that he had some urgent calls from the office. For the language, on the description of the tour it's specified that a private english speaking assistant has an extra price and that it's included a "private transportation", not an english speaking driver.
Ricardo was an excellent driver. Punctual, informative and kind. The stops were fabulous!! I could’ve stayed at the cheese factory for days. Such an interesting process with a yummy result! The acetaia was also fascinating. I wish I had purchased more than one bottle of this liquid gold. My husband really enjoyed the auto museums, being able to get a close look at beautiful Lambos and Ferraris. Oh! And the stop at the Giacobazzi winery was also fabulous, with tastings of three Lambruscos, and a lovely guide, Greta! Take this one, and sit back and enjoy.
Thank you very much!
