Découvrez le charme Belle Époque de Saint-Sébastien en explorant ses monuments les plus emblématiques. Notre voyage commence à l'hôtel de ville (Ayuntamiento), un superbe bâtiment avec une riche histoire. En flânant le long de la célèbre plage de La Concha, vous entendrez comment la ville est devenue une retraite thermale luxueuse pour la royauté Espagnole. Ensuite, nous visiterons l'impressionnante cathédrale de Buen Pastor, qui abrite l'un des plus grands orgues d'Europe. Notre voyage se poursuit en traversant le pont Maria Cristina, joyau architectural inspiré des ponts de Paris, offrant une vue imprenable sur la rivière Urumea. On admirera ensuite l'extérieur de l'hôtel Maria Cristina, symbole glamour du Festival de San Sebastian, encore marqué par la guerre civile Espagnole. Juste en face, nous verrons le Victoria Eugenia Theatre, un lieu historique qui a été témoin de la vie culturelle dynamique de la ville.
Dans cette deuxième partie de la visite, nous plongerons dans les rues étroites de la vieille ville, où s’est déroulée l’une des batailles les plus intenses de la ville. Nous visiterons le Marché de La Bretxa, un Marketplace historique qui est un élément vital de la vie locale depuis des siècles. Au fil de notre exploration, vous découvrirez des boutiques centenaires, certaines de plus de 190 ans ! Nous pénétrerons à l’intérieur de l’église San Vicente, joyau gothique qui renferme une relique plus ancienne que la ville elle-même, et visiterons la célèbre Plaza de la Constitucion, qui recèle de fascinants secrets cachés. Notre voyage se termine à l'emblématique église Santa Maria del Coro, où nous admirerons sa superbe façade baroque de l'extérieur.

Our group of six had an exceptional experience exploring San Sebastián with Iker. From the moment we met him, he made us feel genuinely welcome and immediately set a warm, engaging tone for the tour. His deep knowledge of the city, its history, and its culture was evident throughout, but what truly set him apart was the enthusiasm and passion with which he shared it. Iker’s love for San Sebastián is contagious. I have done many tours over 30+ years of traveling. Unfortunately, this was one of the worst experiences I’ve had. There were several things that led me to this conclusion. The tour guide was difficult to understand. On multiple stops, he chose to try to talk to us where there were loud construction noises nearby. Difficult to hear. On several of our stops when we could’ve been in the shade, we stopped in direct sunlight, and it was a hot day. This was uncomfortable for several of the members of the group. When we would walk throughout the city, our guide would often walk very quickly, leaving the group behind. He made a little effort to talk with anyone during the walks. At one point, he crossed the street against a red traffic signal, causing cars to honk their horns at us. Maybe most importantly, his demeanor was rather unpleasant. I don’t think he smiled at all throughout the tour, and his stories were short, disjointed, and hard to follow. This could’ve been because of difficulty with language, i’m not sure. I had higher expectations for this tour. Walking tours like this are often wonderful, enlightening experiences. Unfortunately, this tour was not one of those, and I would not recommend it.

Not only was Francisco an amazing tour guide, but he also gave great recommendations for pinxos and drinks in the area. We’ve been steadily working our way through his list since we finished our tour this morning. Definitely worth doing if you have an interest in the history and culture of the city and Basque region!
I was scheduled to stay at this property (solo female traveler) for several days this past month. The check-in instructions were nonexistent — literally they just said to pick up the key, but there was nobody at the seemingly empty, dark building when I arrived after a long train ride. The host did not timely respond to my inquiries about how to get into the property. I can’t exactly leave a review for the property itself bc I never saw it, but the host refused to refund any portion of my stay despite his lack of communication and was very rude to me in our last exchange on this topic — he basically laughed it off. On the advice of Vrbo I booked a different stay, which was much better based on the appearance and noise level outside this Vrbo I had originally booked. So I am out over $800 for a place I never even saw the inside of. I have booked and stayed at a lot of VRBO properties, including some on this same trip, and I have never encountered anything like this. Just something to think about before you pay in advance …
