Rejoignez notre excursion à terre en petit groupe depuis le port de Katakolon avec notre véhicule entièrement climatisé (minibus ou autocar) avec billets coupe-file inclus. Conduisez pendant 45 minutes de Katakolon à Olympie avec les commentaires à bord de votre guide. À votre arrivée à Olympie, profitez d'une visite guidée du site archéologique et du musée avec un guide anglophone officiellement agréé. Ensuite, vous aurez du temps libre pour explorer la ville moderne d'Olympie avant de retourner au port. Nous veillons toujours à ce que vous reveniez au port avant l'heure « tous à bord ». L'heure de début de la visite dépend de l'heure d'arrivée du bateau de croisière. Si le navire arrive par exemple à 9h00, la visite commencera à 9h30 au lieu de 8h30.

Dans le site archéologique, parmi plusieurs autres vestiges de bâtiments importants, vous verrez le gymnase et la palestre, le Philipeion rond, l'atelier de Phidias où la statue d'or et d'ivoire de Zeus a été construite, les temples de Zeus et d'Héra, l'autel où la torche olympique est allumée à l'époque moderne et l'ancien stade olympique.
Dans le musée archéologique sont logés toutes les découvertes qui ont été excavées du site archéologique. Des offrandes de bronze et d'argile (trépieds et figurines), des armures, des vases, les outils et la coupe de l'atelier de Phidias, le magnifique Hermès de Praxitèle, le Nike de Paeonios et les statues classiques très impressionnantes et très bien conservées des frontons du temple de Zeus, etc.
Votre visite se poursuivra dans une ambiance totalement différente. Le village moderne d'Olympia est situé à côté du site archéologique et du musée, où vous pourrez prendre un verre avec les habitants ou explorer la rue principale avec ses nombreuses boutiques où vous trouverez de tout, des bijoux et des vêtements aux objets d'art et d'artisanat pour vous et vos proches !

We loved every minute of our tour! Our guide was informative and personable. She did an excellent job of avoiding the crowds whenever possible and gave us time to explore our surroundings in Olympia. I would definitely recommend this tour.

I loved this tour! We only had 11 people in our group and our guide was an archaeologist who was so informative about the entire site. We got there early and toured the museums first which really helped us understand the site before arriving. Our guide was fantastic and told us some stories of Greek mythology too!

Excellent tour of the archaeological sites and the museum. There is some shade at the site, but make sure you take a hat or umbrella and plenty of water as it gets very hot.

We were lucky enough to get Zoe as our guide. She’s a trained archeologist and knew an incredible amount of detail about the archeological site. The transportation was top notch and the tour ran right on schedule. Definitely take the lunch option if it’s offered. The food was authentic and very good.

Thoroughly enjoyed this tour. Our guide (I think Shelly was her name) was extremely knowledgeable and had a good understanding of archeology and the history of Greece. She organised our small group so that we did not get stuck with the masses of 40+ people bus tourists and we had a very relaxing time and back well in time for our ships departure. She also was independent and not pushing any agendas!

Our tour to Olympia and site of the original Olympic Games was unbelievable. Our tour guide Zoey was extremely knowledgeable and walked us through the various section of the site as well as through the museum. She gave a real sense of the Olympic spirit and her descriptions of the various works of art were fantastic. The tour ended with a wonderful and delicious buffet lunch at a local restaurant which also included an OPA dance presentation. We truly felt immersed in the Olympic and Greek culture for a day. Kudos also to our bus driver who went out of his way to make our journey comfortable and minimize walking.
