Very poor communication from their team. I reached out a week in advance to confirm that everything was still good for me and my friend, we even called and emailed, but received no response. It wasn’t until about an hour and a half before the tour that we finally heard back, and only after we reached out again with questions they had previously ignored. At that point, they let us the tour was canceled due to the guide getting food poisoning. As travelers coming all the way from the United States and booking a month in advance, the lack of communication and last-minute notice was extremely frustrating. I hope they improve their communication skills moving forward.
Riu was great! So interesting—especially the shrine👍🙏🏿🐈👏
Riu was amazing. We learned so much and enjoyed it immensely. His knowledge was deep in all things including culture, the sights, the people, and Japan as a whole. We learned so much! Loved this tour
Riu was absolutely amazing - very knowledgeable and well spoken. I would recommend him to everyone wanting to site-see across Kyoto!
Dear ViaDoor Customer Service Team, I hope this email finds you well. I’m writing to express my deep disappointment regarding a recent experience with a day tour I booked through your service in Kyoto. Two days ago, I purchased a Kyoto daily tour via your platform, paid in full, and made all necessary arrangements. I woke up at 4 AM in Tokyo to catch the 6 AM train so I could arrive in Kyoto by 8 AM, well before the 9 AM tour start time. However, upon arrival, I waited for an hour and no tour guide or group appeared. When I called the provided contact number, I was told there was a mix-up and that no such tour was scheduled. I was left stranded in Kyoto, completely alone and understandably upset. Although someone on the phone tried to give me directions to get back, this level of disorganization and lack of care is not acceptable. I request a full refund for the tour that never took place and also some form of compensation for the inconvenience and distress caused. Thank you for your attention to this matter. I look forward to your prompt response. Best regards,
We had an amazing time with Ryu going to the 2 places we wanted to see in Kyoto - Fushimi inari (learned so much about Shintoism) and Arayshima (so much more than the bamboo forest - the mountain and river scenery was breathtaking) - the weather was raining the whole time but this was still a Christmas to remember. Thank you Ryu for being such a wonderful guide and for your genuine passion for the culture and beauty of Kyoto!
My wife and I had a private tour. Our guide Ryu was fantastic. He was very knowledgeable and despite the unlucky weather , he made our trip unforgettable. Highly recommend.
Amazing tour notwithstanding the rain. Rieu was the best guide we had all trip. He has native level English proficiency and knew so much about Kyoto. I can’t imagine a better tour than this one!
Ryu was our guide and he is very well versed on the history and culture of the sites we visited. Lots of walking and some transfers on the rail but he took care of all that. Very willing and able photographer on the side. Thank you , Ryu for the wonderful photos. We booked the 9am and it was very busy. Best if you get to these places around 6 am and after 6 pm.
Thank you for joining our Kyoto tour! We’re glad you enjoyed learning about the city with Ryu and loved the photos he took. He’ll be so happy to read your kind words — and thanks for the great advice for future guests!
Ryu rose above expectations, he is very personable and helpful. Explained local customs and local information very well.
We’re so glad to hear Ryu made your experience even better than expected! He really enjoys sharing local stories and helping guests feel comfortable. Thanks so much for joining us and for the kind feedback! 🍣🌸
