Our tour guide, Thomás, was fantastic and we were lucky enough to have him to ourselves for the evening for this experience. We visited 4 bars and restaurants, each of which had its own vibe. My husband, the more adventurous of the two of us, enjoyed all of the recommended foods and beverages. I, on the other hand, am not very adventurous and still had a great time. I had the best drink I have ever tasted at Bar Kingdom. The food establishment we went to was touted as rarely visited by tourists and we dined on local specialties from Kyoto. Thomás was friendly and knowledgeable about the drinks, food and the area in which we toured. A small FYI for those booking this for the future...meeting at the Kyoto Kawaramachi Garden World Clock actually means to meet where there is currently a large map of the world embedded in the wall.
Thank you so much for your tour. We will update the meeting point description as well thanks for sharing that feedback! So happy you had fun.
I’m a tour operator who works with Arigato Japan and was thrilled to partake in one of their tours on a business trip. Thomás, my guide, was very knowledgeable and fun to talk with. We checked out very local places that would be difficult to find as a non resident. Thank you for a wonderful and delicious evening!
YAY so glad you enjoyed your Kyoto cocktail, sake and whisky tour. We have a similar tour in Tokyo if you are visiting there sometime soon?
The guides took us to several unobtrusive bars with distinct atmospheres and wined and dined us with local specialty foods and liquors. We stayed on after the tour at a bar with a live jazz ensemble and excellent cocktails and Japanese whiskies. Also included was a guide to the different cultures of the large cities of Japan and the world of the geek (geisha). 5 stars
YAY! thank you for this great review It was our real pleasure to tour with you both. hope your journey through Japan was delicious! <3 Lauren
Had a fantastic time on the tour and immensely enjoyed all the bars and restaurants our very knowledgeable guide, Gabriela, took us too. Even after living in Japan for 5 months, I was able to try foods I'd never had before and learn interesting things not only about the food and drinks we had and the places we visited, but also more broadly about Japanese culture and society as a whole. The people who worked at each spot we went to were also extremely nice and engaging. Gabriela was friendly, personable, and gave both excellent recommendations on things to order and fresh insight into life in Japan. 10/10 recommend.
WOW thank you for the wonderful review. Gabi is a superstar guide and we are so glad you enjoyed exploring with her. We feel our tours are good even for people who have travelled here before or live in Japan. I myself, learn something new every day even after living here for many years!
