.Excellent way to see the newer buildings of downtown Windhoek mixing new designs with repurposing of colonial era structures. We started at the oldest church in Windhoek and ventured to the old fort being turned into a museum. We saw the main train station and visited a community food market in Katutura where we tasted locally barbequed beef. It was so delicious we bought a small packet of the spices used on the meat. Our final stop was the Penduka women’s manufacturing initiative. Julio was an excellent guide and driver who provided interesting facts about his city and the history.
Excellent guided tour of Windhoek. Julio, the guide, narrated great facts about the history and status of Windhoek and Namibia. We stopped at major landmarks and neighborhoods, including the nice Oshetu local market where we tasted local delicacies.
Great tour by Julio!! He was very professional, passionate and well-informed. I’d recommend this tour to everyone who is interested in the city of Windhoek - it’s history, culture and politics.
We saw the main sights in Windhoek and learned a bit about them. We also drove through the slums - what an experience! And of course, it ended in Penduka. There isn't much more in Windhoek......
It was a two day tour to coastal area in Namibia.
You learn a lot about the history of Namibia and get to see a lot of amazing architecture, their history and how this history is preserved. The visit of Katutura was confronting on many levels but I was glad that it was part of the tour. What made this tour so recommendable was Julio, our guide. His knowledge was amazing and his passion for Namibia was palpable. I felt very fortunate to have had him as out guide
Our tour with Julio was one of the best city tours I ever had, and I had few in my life. We learned so much and Julio was as brilliant and full of energy and passion as possible. These four hours were absolutely fantastic and gave us. very good impression of all the aspects of Windhoek, ending in a very nice women empowerment project in Katatura. We had fun at the market with delicious beef strips and just a great time with Julio. Don‘t think twicw, this tour is a no-brainer. Perfect for departure day.
This tour is highly recommended for anyone looking for a concise yet insightful overview of Windhoek’s history. My colleagues and I found it incredibly informative, and Julio was outstanding. He was knowledgeable, engaging, and always happy to answer our questions. A definite highlight was sampling local food at the Oshetu Community Market, which added an authentic and memorable touch to the experience. The tour also offers a well-balanced itinerary, taking you through the CBD as well as the townships, both of which are essential to understanding Windhoek’s rich and complex history. It was a pity we didn’t have time to go inside the museums, but this is completely understandable given that it’s a half-day tour and there is a lot to cover.
The tour was very good and informative. We gained a great insight into the history and the various neighborhoods. Our guide was also fantastic. Therefore, highly recommended.
Great tour in seeing all the main attractions in Windheok. For fair warning, you will see the more undeveloped parts but is totally safe!
