Circuit de 2 jours à Saipan et Tinian (Jour 1 : SPN ; Jour 2 : TIN)

Description

My elderly mother and I went with Walt on a chartered flight to Tinian for a day from Saipan. The tour was very organized as Walt already had a rental car to drive us around in Tinian. This tour was done in December 2025 (right after Christmas). The trip was very interesting due to the history of Tinian. Visiting the northern runway where the bombers took off for Japan was very interesting. The surrounding area with all the old control towers and terminals were interesting. For history lovers, this is a MUST SEE.
I have wanted to tour of Saipan and Tinian for many years as my father was stationed on Saipan in 1945 and 1946. Walt provides a complete and thorough tour of both islands with deep knowledge of the islands. Prior to my arrival, I provided Walt with a few photos from my dad's time in Saipan. Before I arrived, Walt researched and made appointments with long-term island residents in an attempt to determine the location of these photos. After two full days of touring we (Walt and I) feel we got very close to the location of the most identifiable landmarks. Walt worked very hard to personalize my tour and it was a fantastic experience. This was the best and most in-depth tour I have ever experienced. If you want to tour the Northern Mariana Islands, I highly recommend using Walt and Discover Saipan. I told Walt during the tour, there is likely no other tour in the world like this. Walt, thanks for a great and unique tour!
Thanks! That was definitely an adventure to remember! I'm honored to have been part of your journey to reconnect you with your father’s history. Photos like the ones you shared are always welcomed with curiosity and fascination by the local community, particularly folks who were actually here during that time. I hope your experience and the interview you shared will encourage others--especially those with family ties to the Pacific or an interest in WWII history — to take the leap! It's a powerful opportunity to walk where history happened and enhance personal connections. Thanks again for sharing!
I truly enjoyed Saipan and Tinian tours on WW2 history with Walt. Both islands are remarkable, Walt is a very knowledgeable and flexible guide, and I recommend both tours to anyone interested in WW2 history.
Thanks, T! It was great spending the days with you! And thanks for the interview!

You'll not only receive a detailed explanation of the war, but also about the culture, nature, and the diverse people who live on the islands. During the tour, you'll have fun and informative conversations with the guide. Thanks to his hospitality, you can also let him know what your interests are and what you'd like to see (or see more of). We had two unforgettable, fun, and informative days thanks to our top guide, Walt! Highly recommended!
Thanks! It was my honor and pleasure to introduce both of you to Saipan and Tinian and show you around these islands! We had great conversation and I learned quite a lot about your own Dutch society and customs as well. Yours is definitely a tour I'll remember fondly! p.s., If I ever become a teacher, I'll consider some of your suggestions of how things are done (or not done) in the Netherlands!

My two days with Walt were truly unforgettable. I wanted to re-trace the steps my dad had taken when he fought as a US Marine in WW2 on both Saipan and Tinian. I had high expectations and somehow, Walt exceeded on both days. He gave me the background of the island and the war, though I truly thought I was prepared. We went to every corner of the island and from the beaches to the top of Mt. Tapochau. Walt showed me the beauty of the islands, as well of the spots where the horrors of the battles took place 80 years ago occurred. It was moving and emotional for me. The opportunities Walt gave me to see local culture, climb to new heights, and drive places and fly new ways I never thought possible are so precious to me and I cannot possibly thank you enough Walt. The photos, videos and time log were just an unexpected bonus that I will always treasure. Walt's knowledge of Saipan and Tinian is extensive and I feel like I have learned so much from him. I will always remember my two days touring with Walt. I wish I could give him a higher rating, but I encourage anyone considering a tour on Saipan or Tinian to book your time with Walt. You will be glad you did! Thank you again Walt. I am so grateful.
You're quite welcome! It was truly an honor to spend time with you on this meaningful pilgrimage. As you mentioned during the post-tour interview (https://youtu.be/zik0MsAUk3Q), your dad didn’t share all the details of his time on Saipan and Tinian. Still, walking the very beaches where he likely landed in 1944 adds a powerful, tangible dimension to the stories he did share with his children and grandchildren. I'm grateful to have played a small part in helping bring that history to life for your family.
Really excellent tour. Walt vert nice and competent. He can explain very well the history of Saipan and Tinian. Very good !!!
Outstanding tour! My wife and I had wanted to visit Saipan and Tinian for many years. Initially, I tried to make plans remotely, but it’s difficult when you don’t have any local insight. Once I got in touch with Walt, all that changed. He made things easy. Walt has a wealth of knowledge and genuine enthusiasm for the history of these beautiful islands. We would have missed out on so much without his expertise.
I went to Walt’s tour on 5-6 September 2024 with my teenage son who was very keen on WW2 sites. Walt was an excellent tour guide: he catered to our needs, he ensured we have seen what we wanted to see in Saipan, went out of his way for my son to see the WW2 military tank in the middle of a golf course! We highly recommend to book with Walt. We will come back again.
It's always a pleasure introducing folks to these beautiful and historic islands. It's even more fun when I, too, can learn about the culture and history of my guests' countries of origin! Hope we run into each other again during our travels!
I discovered Walt researching guides for Saipan and the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands (CNMI) on the internet Choosing Walt I hit a bonanza of experience, information, and good cheer. He was enthusiastic, engaging, outgoing, communicative, decisive, flexible and an impeccable manager of time. I cannot more highly recommend Walt if you want to do a deep dive into Saipan and CNMI.
