Pushing your boundaries with amazing guides to get you there

My girlfriend and I had an awesome experience with Expotur and most specifically with our three guides Iderle, Aldair, and Luis. This trek although less miles than ones we’d done previously was extremely challenging but with every minute as I was able to push my boundaries and got comfortable being uncomfortable. Our guides were extremely accommodating especially with my partner struggling on parts as she was previously injured and got sick during the hike and were always able to find a solution to help whether it was helping carry her bag, hailing a mule, or getting a motor transport when she needed it. They were extremely informative on giving us a good sense of the history of the sierra nevadas and indigenous culture. My girlfriend couldn’t have finished the hike without Iderle’s encouragement. As an lower intermediate Spanish speaker I had an really appreciated hearing our guide’s Spanish lectures and having a great translator in Aldair to fill in the gaps.

Difficult hike but amazing surroundings

I think it is a very challenging fysical hike. The guides where amazing, the whole time attended to every need! The accomodation is very basic (as expected) so it is a little bit survival but the waterfalls & breath taking views make it al up!

Absolute recommendation - highlight of my trip

A truly impressive and worthwhile activity. Even though it was physically very challenging at times (steep roads; heat and many meters in altitude), it is worth it. The guides (Nelson and Justin) were excellent companions for getting an insight into the history of the region, the indigenous population, and the Ciudad Perdida. Highly recommended!

Diego and Alberto are brilliant!

We had a wonderful time on this today hike. Spectacular natural beauty and wonderful company along the way. Diego guided us to the Lost City, Alberto was our Translator along the way, and Freddy provided tasty food for us - all three were relaxed, friendly, professional and reliable. We would thoroughly recommend the hike to anyone considering it. 5stars!

Wonderful service - happy as a toucan!

We had an absolutely wonderful trop to Ciudad Perdida with Expotur! It started with great communication with the office, followed by super service from all staff members during the tour. We felt so well cared for, which was especially important since we travelled with our 2 daughters of 12 and 14. We ended up sending their luggage with motorbike and mule, which really helped. Omar, our guide, was absolutely fantastic and took special care of them, cheering them on and joking along the way to keep all of our spirits up. Thank you SO much!

Brilliant experience

WOW, what a wonderful experience. We had the best adventure hiking to The Lost City. It was made so special with our experienced and dedicated guide Diego. He was a wealth of knowledge and always on hand day or night. Diego is great and I would recommend him for any tour. We would not have had such a great experience if we did not have Alberto our translator. He was a champ, he really cares about his groups and was so much fun to have as our translator. Request Alberto if you want perfect translation, a fun and knowledge person to be on hand for the tour. Alberto was a star. A big part of the tour is getting the right food to fuel the hike. Freddie is your man, he made such fantastic food. We were so happy. We were a group of 7 vegan or vegetarians and Freddie went above and beyond to tailor his menu to us. We were so impressed. It's a fantastic life experience and we loved all of it.

Thank you Magic Tours!

We just finished the 4 day Lost City trek with Magic Tours. Highly recommend this company for transport, logistics and wonderful wonderful guides! We were lucky to have our indigenous guide Melki and our English translator Daniel. Otherwise the tour companies have no difference in price, food or campsites along the trek. I would definitely recommend the 4 day trek. We had one person with our group doing 5 day - it was not at slower pace, just an additional day detour to waterfalls (although the company were happy to adjust this to save her some of the walking!). The hike was very challenging, mostly due to long days (we are late twenties / early thirties of average fitness). The Lost City is well worth it.

Four day hike Ciudad Perdida

I was on the 4 day tour with Nelson as our guide and Ariel as our translator, but really he was like a second guide. During the whole trip Ariel did all that he could to make us have a great time. He came up with games during the hikes and played cards with the rest of the group in the afternoon/evening. Also when he was translating he sometimes even asked for more information to make his story complete and asked us sometimes questions as well to keep us interacted which I think is really positive. Nelson knows a lot about the environment and the places we went to. It’s unfortunate that not everyone could have a chat with him (because of the language) but I am learning Spanish and Nelson thought me even more Spanish during the hike. We could make jokes and have a laugh along the way which made the hiking even more fun! He gave us all the information we needed and wanted to know. Our chef Camilla also made great food! I had a vegetarian menu and everything was super tasteful and filling. Both Ariel and Nelson really did all they could to make this an experience I will never forget! Our group name was Moglis.

Thriving in The Lost City

The Lost City Tour was the experience of a lifetime. This was made possible by our exceptional guide, Diego, our excellent translator, Alberto and the brilliant culinary skills of our chef, Freddy. Diego, Alberto & Freddy demonstrated professionalism, kindness and patience at all times. They lead us safely and with great attention throughout the trip. It was fascinating to hear their knowledge of the Lost City & the culture of the indigenous people. It was incredible to see the Lost City and to experience the Colombian jungle despite the blood, sweat and tears!! The hike is gruelling and challenging & more suitable for seasoned hikers with a good level of fitness. The camps are well established but the communal sleeping setup requires adjusting to and you can't be guaranteed good quality sleep. Despite the sleepless nights, the experience is unforgettable and this again was due to the expertise of Diego, Alberto and Freddy. Thank you Familia 45!
