Drumnadrochit est un village sur les rives du Loch Ness, connu pour abriter le monstre du Loch Ness. Drumnadrochit est rempli de boutiques de nouveautés où les objets du clan écossais et d'autres produits de base écossais peuvent être appréciés. Nous visitons également Great Glen Gin Distillery, la plus petite distillerie écossaise où ils offrent des dégustations de gin gratuites primées au monde faites à partir des eaux du Loch Ness afin que vous ayez un vrai avant-goût de Nessie.
La bataille de Culloden a lieu le 16 avril 1746, à l'extérieur d'Inverness. Une armée jacobite commandée par Charles-Édouard Stuart est définitivement vaincue par une force gouvernementale britannique commandée par le duc de Cumberland, mettant fin au soulèvement jacobite de 1745. Culloden Marque l'endroit de la dernière grande bataille sur le sol britannique, la lande sauvage de Culloden est le lieu de repos de 1500 Jacobites et 50 soldats gouvernementaux qui ont combattu et sont morts ici. Aujourd'hui, vous pouvez marcher le long des lignes de bataille et voir les tombes des soldats près du cairn commémoratif au centre du champ de bataille.
Conçu par Murdoch Paterson, ingénieur en chef du Highland Railway, le pont a été construit entre 1893 et 1898 et est toujours utilisé aujourd'hui. La structure en pierre incurvée avec fondations en béton mesure 1800 pieds de longueur. Cela en fait le plus long viaduc ferroviaire en maçonnerie d'Écosse. Elle compte 29 arches au total. Une arche centrale plus large sur la rivière, avec 14 de chaque côté. Il a été construit en utilisant le grès rouge local de la carrière de Leanach sur Culloden Moor. Comme un lieu d'intérêt architectural particulier.
Le cairn de Clava est un type de cairn circulaire à chambre datant de l'âge du bronze, nommé d'après le groupe de trois cairns à Balnuaran de Clava. Ils se divisent en deux sous-types, l'un consiste typiquement en une tombe à passage en encorbellement avec une chambre funéraire unique reliée à l'entrée par un court passage et recouverte d'un cairn de pierres, avec les entrées orientées sud-ouest vers le coucher du soleil du milieu de l'hiver. Dans l'autre sous-type, un cairn annulaire entoure une zone apparemment non couverte sans moyen d'accès formel de l'extérieur. Les Cairns de Clava servent d’inspiration pour les pierres debout fictives Craigh na Dun dans le livre et la série télévisée Outlander. La célèbre « pierre de Cleft » qui transporte le personnage principal Claire dans le temps se trouve ici à Clava Cairns.
Le château de Cawdor est un château situé dans la paroisse de Cawdor. Il est construit autour d'une maison-tour du XVe siècle, avec des ajouts substantiels dans les siècles ultérieurs. À l'origine propriété de la famille Calder, il est passé aux Campbell au XVIe siècle et est aujourd'hui toujours la propriété des Campbell qui est maintenant la maison de la comtesse douairière Cawdor, La date la plus ancienne documentée pour le château est 1454, date à laquelle une licence de fortification a été accordée à William Calder, 6e Thane de Cawdor. Cependant, certaines portions de la maison-tour ou du donjon du XVe siècle peuvent précéder cette date. Les historiens de l'architecture ont daté le style de pierrerie dans la partie la plus ancienne du château d'environ 1380. Avec ses beaux jardins est un arrêt incontournable et populaire pour les visiteurs.

I had independently booked a shore excursion tour while our ship was in port at Invergordon. It ended up only having 2 people (myself and my cousin) scheduled for it and instead of our tour getting cancelled we were combined with another tour that already had people booked. Tony was our guide for the tour we got combined with and he did an absolutely fantastic job! You can definitely tell that he cares about teaching the tourists all that he can about the Scottish history and answering any and all questions that we have. He is very knowledgeable, enthusiastic and made the entire day a lot of fun. He told us that he tries to show us as many different sites and things as possible so that we can hopefully get a taste of what Scotland is like and hoping that we will want to come back. I definitely would go back in a heart beat! He is all about making the customers happy, the tour personable and not sticking to a "schedule" that you can't stray from. I am hoping that one day I will get the chance to go back cause I would without a doubt book another one of Tony's tours. Keep up the great work Tony!
We had a great day with John! He got us to the castle before the crowds, so our experience was perfect! I’m not sure how he did it, but we saw so much! Even an impromptu stop to get photos with a Highland cow, some fun shots with Scotland and US flags, and some other surprises. He had so much detailed information about the sites, and he gave us tips only a local would know. Such an amazing experience compared to the big bus tours! We had a wonderful full-day tour of the Scottish Highlands with Tony Munro from Highland Guided Tours. The tour was excellent, and Tony was extremely knowledgeable, friendly, and passionate about Scottish history and culture. During the day, we visited many amazing places, including Cawdor Castle, Urquhart Castle with its famous Highland horses nearby, a local gin distillery, Loch Ness, Inverness, and the ancient sacred stones of Balnuaran of Clava. One of the most beautiful experiences was at the end of the day on the beach by the loch, where Tony surprised us with a beautiful basket filled with delicious Scottish products. It was such a thoughtful and memorable touch. Tony was incredibly knowledgeable about the history of the Highlands and made every stop interesting and enjoyable. Highly recommended for anyone wanting an authentic and unforgettable Highland experience

Our tour guide, Tony, was a local lad who was very knowledgeable and accommodating. The tour was amazing and we came away feeling like we had experienced an authentic Scottish experience whilst still hitting the big tourist sights. It’s the extra attention to detail and Tony’s easy going nature that makes this the trip you need to do. We have been travelling around Europe for six weeks and have done many tours.
