Visite des distilleries du Speyside

Description

George from Clan Tours did not disappoint. We left Inverness and stopped by some beautiful sites and photo ops on the way to the first distillery. He told us stories of growing up in the region and some historical facts. We did the Glenfarclas tour and tasting first which was excellent. Isla from the distillery walked us through the parts of the distillery and answered all questions. The tour includes a small tasting as well. Next we went to the GlenAllachie distillery. This was probably my favorite scotch of the whole trip. The award winning 12 year was great and the 10 year cast strength really opened up with a little water. The Solara was amazing. And the whiskey barrel aged rum was a unique treat. Frankly, we could have spent the day there. We stopped by a lovely small deli that made amazing sandwiches and had some great snacks and treats. The sandwiches were made to order and had they also some pre made things like sausage rolls and meat pies. Next we went to the Speyside Cooperage where the barrels are made and refurbished. The tour was very thorough and seeing the whole process was interesting. And of course the tasting at the end was delicious. Next we went to Glenfiddich which was meticulously landscaped. Great for photo ops. The scotch was great of course and had some rare drams that you can’t find in the states. George made some time for us to hit one more distillery on the way back, which was Glen Moray. This distillery had a slew of different woods types (bourbon, sherry’s cognac, port) with varying vintages. All were delicious and it was a good example of the depth you can get with scotch depending on cask and age. Also easy on the pocket if you wanted to take some to go. For all the sites and points of interest along the way, George gave us the history of the distilleries and surrounding area. Most of the ones we visited were family owned which is an increasingly rare thing. Overall I’d rate this a 5 out of 5 and would definitely book again. Thanks George!
Thank you so much for your very detailed review I am so happy you spent your time , going over the details of the day and im so pleased you had a great time Many thanks George
Had a great time, thank you George for a wonderful experience. Couldn’t recommend enough!!!
Thank you so much for your kind words
Honest answer? You’ll have a brilliant time. Very fun and informative. George knew everyone in all the distilleries we visited which made the whole experience that much more enjoyable and me and my cousin felt really included in everything. Some incredible views and fun stories. I can’t rate this guy highly enough. What I enjoyed most was that it was just my cousin and I, so it felt quite intimate and personal. George offered to pick us up from our Airbnb rather than Starbucks which made organising so much easier. This guy will cater to you and show up in an amazing tartan kilt. What better way to explore the Speyside Distilleries than with an authentic Scotsman who knows what he’s talking about and wands to give everyone a great experience? Great guy, I highly recommend and you’ll have an amazing time!

This tour was fantastic. I highly recommend it to everyone. You’re not gonna get a better person to show you the countryside how beautiful it is incorporating with the way whiskey has come about
Thank you so much for your very kind words It was a pleasure to show you guys around And give you an idea of how important the Whisky industry is to this part of Scotland Thank you so much
What a fantastic day. George reached out to me earlier in the week to let me know the itinerary, where he'd booked us and to make sure our travel plans were going smoothly. He picked us up that morning and he always tried to choose a scenic route that we may not have already seen. The distilleries (especially the tour at Glenfarcalas) were amazing and you know you're with the right person when all the staff immediately greet him with a smile. I would recommend this service to anyone looking for a relaxed day in the Speyside area.
