Could get better

The tour is wonderful, I loved the tour, the magical places. I had less expectation. First they take you to a Zenote, beautiful and wonderful, short in time but just to refresh. Then to a small town without much business, I would take him out and leave Tulum (which still happen). And then to lunch in a Mayan community. Then, Chichen Itza, which is wonderful and magical. John and Ephraim very friendly, especially Ephraim very respectful. George the guide, friendly, but he played a lot, surprised me in the back and took my shoulders, exceeded my square meter. Added to his constant obsession with the looting of the Spanish. That I didn't like: 1. The perfect buffet, only the gentlemen who attend are constantly doing show asking for silver (dancers, mayans, etc.) is too loud and even eating you can not relax that ask for tips all the time. Even for breath they ask you to tip. 2. Right there a “shaman” makes you a meeting and chooses 5 people, then takes them inside their shack and asks them US$1500 to follow (again only money) curiously in my group they chose only gringos ($). 3. The guide, when he arrived in Chichen Itza, only spoke of the Spanish looting, but he did not explain anything about the temple of Venus, the warriors, the big tables, he only spoke of the theft of the Spaniards and some of the ballgame. I already knew that, I was taught it in school for like 10 years of history, I wasted time listening. Added that he had us in the sun throughout his explanation of the theft from the Spaniards that could perfectly be in the shade (Jorge). I will have to come back but with a guide who really knows and explains the temples and history of the MAYA!!! If you are a foreigner and don’t speak Spanish, you should be careful not to fall for scams from the people there. They recognize foreigners and try to charge more.

Beautiful experience

Very nice and interesting tour! Josué and his team are really prepared and nice and also the guide to Chichén Itza very very good! But it would have been better to stay less time in the Mayan community (before lunch they take you to various souvenir shops in the community that is nice but you stay there too long!) and dedicate more time to cenote or Valladolid. The tour lasts all day, they picked us up at 7.30am and we returned to the hotel by 9pm.

All in all recommended

All in all, we can recommend the tour - Procedure as described - friendly crew and comfortable bus - Lunch completely sufficient and tasty What to look out for: - Sale of a mosquito spray on the bus, you can optionally buy, we did not do it and also did not need it - Life jackets and locker in the Cenote costs extra, life jacket is mandatory (5 dollars/ euro per vest/compartment) - the first stop at Cenote is a shaman, you don't have to believe in it or buy anything, but you should definitely respect the culture! - Drinks at lunch are extra, but is also in the description - both in Chichen Itza and Valladolid are kept specifically at dealers, they seem to be partners (tequila, chocolate, jewelry etc.), of course you don't have to buy anything if you don't want to. A simple no is all it takes. The prices seemed very high to us, at other retailers the souvenirs were much cheaper - Pick-up and return were well planned, despite slight delay in pickup All in all we saw and got what we wanted and booked, deduction is only for the targeted advertising of the spray and the dealers, that did not suit us so much, but as I said a simple no is enough. In the end, people just want to make a living. They were always friendly!

Tour is ok but tour guider needs improve

Tour is ok. But two tour guides needs improve. They scared tourists to sell bug spray at a very expensive price. Also, they are dishonest at request international tourists pay higher tax when using credit card after booking the tour. They charge 25% more instead of 6%. My recommendation: dont buy their bug spray and pay optional tax when booking.

Waste of time and money

We shouldn't have been allowed to go on this tour. We were too far away from all the other participants to make our day worth while. Picked up at 7:15 a.m. and last pickup was at 9:45 a.m. And that 2 1/2 hours in the bus was spent driving in circles, dropping people off, picking people up, it was crazy. Large bus which was eventually full of people. The 2 guides and driver were great, but it seemed like there were subcontractors and more subcontractors. I'm still not clear who was actually organizing the tour. There ended up being some major event in Valladolid so we couldn't stop there on the way out. Then we were taken to a blatantly commercial "cooperative" to peruse the wares and take part in a blatantly commercial "shaman" ceremony before our mexican lunch. Then we were finally driven to Chichen Itza for a 2 hour walk about. We stopped in Valladolid at 5:30 p.m., in the dark, on the way back. We were finally dropped off at our hotel at 10 p.m. Very long and exasperating day. ( and I had done a tour like this 5 years ago, small van about 12 people, very much more enjoyable).

Hi RockyMJ. We're sorry the experience didn’t meet your expectations. We appreciate you mentioning the great work of the guides and driver. Please note that, as stated in the tour description, this is a shared excursion, which involves multiple pick-ups and stops. That said, we’ll be passing your feedback to the provider to continue improving. Thank you for sharing your review!

An experiment to do!

Fernando is a passionate guide; it was very interesting to hear him talk about the history of the Mayans. This excursion perfectly combines guided time with free time. There are good distances to go, it's been a good day, but it's fully worth it. Both guides were attentive, we were often offered drinks, the pick up at the hotel was on time and unambiguous. The visit to Valladolid, a little short in my opinion, and the site of Chichen Itza is really huge to visit. Tequila tastings were also offered. What a great experience!

Thank you so much for your review, Mylene. We're happy to hear you enjoyed this well-rounded experience and that Fernando made the tour even more special with his passion for Mayan history. We'll make sure to share your kind words with the excursion provider. Thank you for choosing us for this adventure.

It is a long day but it...

It is a long day but it is also a GREAT day! We had Jorge as our tour guide and Orlando as our driver. Jorge is super informative and great at switching back and forth between English and Spanish (which might be harder for folks who have English or Spanish as a second language). Orlando is also a fantastic driver and we all felt very comfortable on the bus. (Shoutouts to Jorge for making sure no one did number two on the bus!) Highlights include: - the salsas at the buffet and the carnitas tacos. The tortillas were phenomenal! - the Cenote swim: you don’t want to miss it! You’ll just need to pay for a lifejacket and a locker. - the Chichen Itza, of course: so much history and our other tour guide, Roberto, (for English) was excellent at explaining everything. He even gave us tips on how to take the best photos! - the Valladolid: honestly I would have loved to stay for dinner, such a cute square. We were lucky enough to also see a show with folks in traditional Mayan wear and fire!

Thank you for sharing your experience. We're glad to hear it was a great day and that Jorge and Orlando did an excellent job. We also appreciate your comments about Roberto and will share them with the excursion provider. It's great to know you enjoyed the food, the cenote, and each stop of the tour. We hope you take unforgettable memories with you.
