Visite de Chichen Itza, Cenote et Valladolid

Felt like a tourist trap and a very long trip. Unnecessary stops to purchase items from his “trusted” spots. Felt like the tour guide, Luis, had a business with the stores and places we visited so that we would fall into purchasing items from them. Tour guide started tour very aggravated saying that if we asked questions a second time then he would charge us for the tour again.. it was supposed to be funny? But he seemed aggravated and upset. Someone must’ve pissed him off before? He also was always in a rush when asked questions. My mom was trying to ask him a question and he was rude and ignored her and walked away. Then at the end of the ride, he went on about tips for him and the driver and how their family depended on it and spent a good 5-10 min talking about it which if he had been nice then I wouldn’t care. We were walking out of the bus at the end of the tour and I said, “goodnight, thank you for everything” and he didn’t even ven look up. He just said ahem in a rude way as if he was upset our family didn’t tip. Would NOT recommend ever

I was really disappointed with this tour. We spent almost two hours at a tourist shopping stop that was never mentioned in the advertised itinerary, yet Valladolid, which was actually part of the tour I paid for, was only 30 minutes. It was frustrating to spend so much time at a place I didn’t sign up for while barely getting time at one of the destinations I actually wanted to visit. If a commercial stop takes up that much of the day, it should be disclosed before booking. The experience felt misleading, and unfortunately I would not book with this company again or recommend this tour.

Excellent! The tour is well organized, timely and you get what you need just at the right time. It is evident that our guide Tony has been doing this for quite a while… he knows when and how to engage the group (very funny!), has a wealth of knowledge and kept us all moving through safely and effectively. Mani, our bus driver kept us and our belongings safe. The sites are breathtaking. Lunch was generous, not crowded, and very pretty location. Great experience. Teenagers loved it. Yes, book it :)

A large air-conditioned coach picked us up around 7am for the roughly 2.5 hour drive to Chichen Itza. Our guide for the day was Cesar, and I have to say he was probably one of the best tour guides I've come across on any tour. Knowledgeable, informative and refreshingly funny. Before we arrived we stopped at an arts and crafts facility where they make a variety of Mexican crafts and souvenirs from obsidian rock. Genuinely interesting, though the shop prices were eye-watering to say the least. Chichen Itza itself was busier and more commercialised at the entrance than I'd expected, and it was extremely hot. There was an additional $47 per person charge to enter the ruins. My tip: don't bother with a hat, pay the $6 to hire a large umbrella for two. It keeps the heat off while still letting a breeze through, and it's a lifesaver if the weather turns, which we were told it can do quickly. The ruins were impressive, but what made the visit was Cesar and his knowledge. He spent real time explaining the design and mathematics behind the main pyramid, El Castillo, as well as the great ball court, where a game was played using two large stone hoops mounted high on the walls. The acoustics of the buildings were unbelievable. His commentary is what made it worth the trip. From there it was a 30 minute drive to Cenote Saamal, which was absolutely beautiful and so welcome after walking around in the heat. The water was cool and refreshing and well worth a visit. If we'd had more time in Mexico I'd have loved to visit other cenotes. Lunch was included at the cenote, simple Mexican cooking and tasty, and you only paid for drinks, which were reasonably priced. Next was a 45 minute drive into Valladolid for a tequila tasting in a shop. The guide there was informative and entertaining, and the tequilas were lovely, though as small-batch artisan products they were pricier than I could justify. We'd hoped to walk around the town and see the church, but the heavens opened, almost biblical rain, and that put a stop to the rest of the day. It was getting late anyway, so most of us were happy to sit back for the 90 minute drive back to Cancun. We got back to the hotel around 7:30pm and, despite being exhausted, thoroughly enjoyed the day. Highly recommended, and hopefully you get Cesar (61) as your guide. He'll make your day memorable.

It was an excellent experience...but the food could have been better and they charge $5 for a water bottle at that buffet, which was a surprise. In the package, please mention it.

Incredible experience mostly because of the tour guide Luis and his team. Learned so much about Mayan culture that I intend to buy books to learn more. Would HIGHLY recommend this tour as long as it was with Luis

Our guide Eddy was very knowledgable on the history of Chichen Itza and took us around at a speed that was good for our party .The cenote trip was fantastic as well -such a refreshing swim in a scenic cenote

The Chichén Itzá day tour with Edwin and Manuel was amazing! Lots of great history and laughs along the way. I would recommend this trip.

The expierence was great. well guided and the stops were amazing. The food was really good. Recommend to bring a backpack with extra clothes in case it rains or you sweat to much. Also be ready for alot of the locals to try to sell you things. If you don't wanted just simply say politely no thank you.. I bought a few things but then had trouble carring everything back to the US. Outstanding trip regardless.

The experience is very good, the guide was always attentive to every detail and highly recommended! If you want to learn more about Mayan culture, highly recommended
