We chose to do this as an easy way to get around York, with one of our party members not to great on their feet, it meant we had the ease of figuring out where we wanted to be and getting off at the nearest stop. Our guide Mike was very entertaining, comical and knowledgeable about the history of York. We did a full circuit and then used the bus to take us to the areas we wanted to see like the shambles and minster. I would highly recommend this as an insight into learning about York and being able to get around the city with ease. Mike you were super and we really enjoyed your commentary around the city history.

Book the bus tour with the live guide!! Emma was our live guide and she was amazing!! Highly recommend. We stayed on the bus to finish her shift just so we could hear everything she had to say about the city.

Blue line driver left us on the bus and didn’t bother to mention that bus wasn’t continuing. Later we saw our hop on bus and ran to it. The driver was stopped at a light, but refused to let us on. Next bus took around 15 minutes to show up. Later, bus stopped for a “driver change”. And after about 20+ minutes we saw the red line bus come up. We decided to get on that bus, when we were informed that the bus driver (relief) didn’t show up. Gold line seems to have longer waits and fewer busses compared to the Big Bus. I would highly recommend using a different hop on hop off than Gold Line.

The hop on hop off bus was amazing. Excellent value for money. The drives our guides were very knowledgeable and very friendly too. Would definitely recommend.

We did the package on 12th May which included the London eye, Madame Tussads and River Cruise. The busses are very less frequent on all the three red, blue and orange routes. The rates I am told are the most competitive among the other tour operators so that way it's better than the rest.
